X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

Oh you don’t want goth Rogue?

Make all the x-men goth.

Just please don’t make this avengers with an x-men skin. Or fascist friendly x-men

In Marvel Studios, I trust.

After seeing The Fantastic 4: First Steps, I feel a bit optimistic how they would handle the X-Men reboot.

I’m fine with an X-men Evolution take but I don’t want Storm being older than the rest of the team.

I mean, it makes sense. There is a reason there is always a "next generation of X-men" book, even if the sliding timescale keeps compressing them to be the same age.

My concern is that they are going to use that premise to bypass all the discrimination parts of the X-men.

I like Storm in that leader role & thought she had some awesome moments (especially in the later seasons) but if the MCU ends up resembling Evolution, I’d at least hope her characterization goes beyond her being Spyke’s aunt.

I felt the same; avoiding spoilers but First Steps felt like a familiar story but with a truly-realized adaptation of Fantastic Four themselves. I very much enjoyed it.

It made me think that maybe the X-Men won’t be so different in cast or story to the original X-Men (2000) or just the Fox universe in general, just through the Marvel lens and with (hopefully) more recognizable takes on the characters and their lore.

Tim Story underwhelmed with Galactus; Bryan Singer underwhelmed with the Sentinels (at least like they are in the comics). Maybe the X-Men reboot isn’t going to be all that complicated to guess?

Oh she can be in that leader role and still be the same age as everyone else. Just felt like an excuse to sideline her in that series.

X-Men Evolution was a bit **** in the beginning. It was until the later seasons when it got better.

Evolution is the series that got me into xmen so I don’t think it was as bad as people remember it. I suppose if you grew up with 97 it was a bit more radical and very much of its time

I also grew up with the X-Men/Marvel games during those times and I didn't like the first costumes in Evolution.

X-Men: Evolution S2-4 really are great; I can see why people would be turned off by S1 since it’s pretty low stakes with a pretty nothing finale. But it’s still a good take on X-Men.

I feel like people sleep on Wolverine and the X-Men too.

It would be fun if they could make a new cartoon in the style of my adventures with Superman. Even alongside x-men 97 it would still be fun

Lol what an inspiring quote

The director said earlier in the interview: “What I can say is, it’s just inherently interesting and complex material… The core idea of what ‘X-Men’ is involves complexity. It’s an incredible opportunity with super interesting characters and [much] internal conflict. These characters are wrestling with their identity and place in the world—that’s inherently interesting and complex material.”

This feels like a whole lot of nothing. Maybe Schreier has nothing to say at this point too early in development but it feels likes he’s purposefully avoiding any social commentary.

Yeah, I've always said there is a reason why X-men has resonated with kids, and always has a "next generation of X-men" book out. But, if that is the first thing out of your mouth when talking about the X-men, then you don't get the X-men.

In Marvel Studios, we trust!

I am sure it will be a perfectly fine film. But, does that really matter if they gut what makes the X-men, the X-men? Do you want the Godzilla 1998 of X-men films?

It does sound a bit milquetoast.

I bet we get a very uncontroversial villain like just a standard “my name is mister bad and I want to take over the world!!!” type story. They’ll be desperate to avoid real world analogies
