X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

Quick question, do you know what the "Have you tried not being a mutant" line can be referring to? It wasn't exactly a subtle metaphor back then, no matter the public info on Singer or not.
Today it's obvious, but in '03, it flew over a lot of heads as just a quip, rather than a loud gay conversion metaphor. The line delivery and the montage have an undeniable, synchronized comedic timing.

I mean, I remember it being discussed pretty thoroughly at the time
I was a 19 year old straight boy and I caught it immediately

That said, I agree that most of the Fox movies were pretty surface level, Black Panther was much more pointed than any of the X-Films in its message

and @Sithborg you've been complaining for years about Marvel kowtowing to China... who'd have thought it would be American authoritarianism that would be the real problem 😞

Hell I was 12 years old and I clocked it.

Also agree with you about the bolded. Took the words out of my mouth.

And yeaaaaah. Considering the state of the country right now, Disney is going to poison their own mutant well.

Ok Kimmel is coming back so hopefully someone at Disney is writing down that caving to fascists costs a lot of money. Maybe this is what was needed to build the case the x-men need to rise to the moment.

Also I do agree the foxverse movies had some good moments but I wouldn’t say they were definitive about standing up for minority rights but that’s sort of the point, that the mcu should do better. Lord knows we need it

Im sure if we asked non fans from general audience, most would say the Fox franchise was about Wolverine being in love with Jean, and not about politics, lol.

Fox and writers made sure that was put on every single movie they were in.

Funny thing, Logan and Jean never got to "consume" their love in all of the franchise. It just makes all the "dead wife" flashbacks in The Wolverine more out of place, since he's technically fantasizing about another man's girl the whole time.

not to mention that Wolverine only spent some weeks at the school until she died in X3.

a total mess.

He barely knew her. The events of X1 last a few days, then he leaves for Alkali Lake, comes back, and that same night, the Mansion is attacked by Stryker. They hang out for a couple of days, then she dies the first time and comes back as the Phoenix a few days later before dying for good.

In total, he probably spent about a week in her company, lmao.

but she is "the love of his life" right, Logan?

by the way, can we talk that he is, probably, the X-Man that has cried the most in the whole franchise? :nope:

I think it’s good to show young men it’s healthy to cry. Wolverine isn’t a good role model but at least he has that

yeah, but from all the X-Men and male characters.... it had to be Wolverine the one to cry the most?

sorry, but the whole character approach on the franchise was totally out of character.

Why exactly is crying a bad thing?

Harris Dickinson discusses cyclops in the x-men fancasting

IF I’M BEING TOTALLY HONEST, I DON’T THINK I’VE SEEN ANYTHING IN THE LAST FIVE TO 10 YEARS IN THAT UNIVERSE THAT HAS BEEN EXCEPTIONALLY INTERESTING, CHARACTER-WISE,
Dickinson shared.

THE VILLAINS, ON THE OTHER HAND, MAYBE
