The Official Paul Thread (Simon Pegg and Nick Frost)

Awesomely funny movie! Surprised Bill Nighey wasn't in it, since he was in their other two films. All of the references to other alien movies was great.

^ well those other two films were Edgar Wright films, this was not.

I really dug the movie. Got it on bluray. Like others have said, its not a “gut busting from laughing” type of film, but it is enjoyable to watch.

The CGI for Paul was incredible. Far more convincing than Gollum, in terms of CGI main characters. But of course, they’ll be shunned at any awards show.

My only real gripe with the movie is the religious bashing. Despite being of a religious mind my self, I feel I’ve got a pretty open mind and good sense of humor when it comes to such things, but it was so heavy handed and one sided that it bordered on being obscene. While damning religious people for being close minded, they came off as such, too. At the end where Paul is talking with the ex-religious chick, I expected him to give a more balanced view, like “hey faith is cool, and it can be a good thing, etc”, but was let down by the cemeneting of their idea that religion is bad and a mental/emotional jail that she needed to be “saved” from. Idunno, its that type of mindset I don’t respect, but other than this issue, I did greatly enjoy the film.

I loved the religion blasting in this movie lol It's basically how I am in real life about it. Besides that though this movie was a bit of a let down, it's like you can just tell that if it had been an Edgar Wright film it would've been 10000x better

The best part of this movie was Paul talking to Spielberg

so....you're an ignorant, close-minded, immature, stereotyping hypocrite?

:oldrazz: Just joshing you. But seriously, that type of mindset is really unhealthy, regardless of the topic its towards.

Agreed. Enjoyed the movie, but the absence of Wright is definitively felt.

Lmao. Nah I'm not that bad, I respect people's right to believe in whatever they want but, it isn't gonna stop me from making fun of em for it. But then again, I make fun of everyone who does anything that makes absolutely no sense to me and religious people just happen to fall into that category lol. It's all in good fun to me

Despite loving the movie, I have to agree with this, some of the jokes that fell flat wouldnt have with Wright behind the helm IMO.

Still a very funny movie though.
