Playstation The Official Playstation 5 Thread

Well, that's one problem of a closed ecosystem/walled garden. However, MS and Nintendo do allow third parties to sell digital codes (e.g. Humble Bundle for Switch games).

I will always champion for corporations losing money against "the little guy" but I reckon this lawsuit won't go anywhere.
I don't think people mind being in a walled garden when prices are long term competitive. Ask pc gamers how much the Steam monopoly has ruined gaming for them, and why they don't even bother downloading the same games for free from other providers. :D I ran out of space years ago so I wanted to go digital, but prices of old games on console stay so far above the physical versions that it feels dumb to pay up.

yeah, it's about prices being reasonable. I have never paid more than $45 for psplus no matter how many times they raised the price on it. Even with the Black Friday discount, it's more than $60. I think for the first time I am gonna just let it expire and not renew it ever again.

Mine at least as of this morning was still active. I don't play anything but single player and never use any network stuff I don't have to.

Awful.

New PlayStation firmware updates out that

We've made some security fixes to the system software.

No word yet if it’s a coincidence or related to the recent waves of mass bannings from PSN. They could just be plugging another jailbreak hack for all PS4 and PS5 systems.

Just saw a similar article.

I was relieved to find out if you have a 2nd SSD installed in a PS5 you can take it out and install it into a different PS5 and can resume where you left off no need to format it, it acts like an internal flash drive.

Sounds like PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro are released 1 year apart, unlike with PS4's.

I went to my local shop to see if they already have a PS5 Slim and they still don't have it yet. And they are already selling the original PS5 model for about $450... I'm tempted but I remembered that slim version is 1TB and smaller in physical size.

wow. I still think the Switch is on pace to dethrone Ps2, and I am genuinely surprised that the Series consoles aren't selling better.
I think its chances are all down to how long they wait to release the next Switch. I still know people who want a Switch who haven't got one yet. I only got one maybe a year ago.

For some reason, I eXpect Nintendo to announce their neXt handheld console in 2024. 2017 is so long now. Surely a successor to that is coming in 2 to 3 years.

I just googled to this, Switch is turning 7 in March. Yeah its been that long.

Nintendo could use the same strategy Sony and MSFT did by keep on releasing the titles on current and last Gen. They can surely pass the PS2s records
The Switch is on track to already dethrone the Ps2 now. It's been the king for so long, I feel like everything will change if the Switch becomes the new king.

If anything is going to dethrone the PS2, it makes sense that it'd be the Switch. Apart from the novelty of it being both a handheld and home console, the sheer amount of games from every generation of Nintendo consoles available to play on it is incredibly appealing for gamers and casuals alike.

What system or equipment do I need to start playing vr? I have ps5 and 4. Rather get something for the 4 side I’ll sure it’ll be cheaper, but I have no idea where to start
