How does anyone care about PS-PS3 games working on a PS5?
The same reason this conversation comes up everytime there's a new console. People still want to be able to play their old games without the inconvenience of having to hook up an old console to do so. They also got used to it with the transition from PS1 to PS2, I know a lot of people who sold their OG's to just keep their PS2.

I'm still buying PS3 games to this day so it would be nice but sadly I'm used to it and wasn't expecting it.

Yup, that was me. They're still my favorite superhero movies ever, man. Haha. Of course I'm getting Spider-Man: MM, I'm so hyped to play another Spidey game. That's the number one reason I'm getting a PS5 so soon.

That's really smart though about it reaching midnight pacific, I hadn't even thought of that!

Dont hear that being peoples favorite superhero movies too often lol. My favorite is like still Spiderman 2. Yeah its my number 1 hyped thing coming out soon for ps5 to also can't wait for ratchet and clank big insomniac fan and horizon zero dawn is my favorite ps4 game so can't wait for FW but wish it was ps5 only.

I never had a ps1 or 2 but I have a 3 and it would be nice to have I have already so many different systems plugged in to my tv and would be nice to get to unhook 1 more thing. There are a lot of ratchet and clank games on ps3 for one.

I stillhave my ps2 games. So it'd be cool and my retail store still sells ps3 games. There's so many ps3 games that weren't released in Ps4

Mass effect trilogy
Assassin's Creed 2007
Splinter Cell Blacklist
Those Prince of Persia games
Grand Theft Auto IV
Red Dead Redemption

I'd buy those if they are playable in ps5.

I actually feel like it's harder to find a Switch now than it was when they launched three years ago.

yeah. the demand for that has been crazy!
It is hard. Only managed to order a Lite after months of looking for one and it is backordered until the end of the month. Fortunately I already have a full sized one to share but having two means I can actually play again after months of it being used solely for Animal Crossing. :o

I care because there are still some PS1-PS3 games I'd like to play.

BC for me isn't a super high priority. Given how I hardly have time to play current games, playing old games via BC isn't something that I will use too often. It's just a nice to have feature, especially when the competition (Xbox) is really pushing that feature.

With that being said, the more remasters and remakes get released, the less of a need I have for BC. And, if given the choice, I'd rather be excited for the new games than revisit old games. Still, it just would be nice to have that option available as a bonus feature.

At least the PS5 is BC with PS4, and it sounds like 99% of PS4 games work on PS5. I still have a huge backlog of PS4 games that I intend to carry over on the PS5. And that will allow me to trade in my PS4 for something else once I confirm all of my PS4 games will work on PS5.

Now, if PS5 had lacked PS4 BC, THAT would have been a major issue for me and possibly a dealbreaker.

So, was anyone able to secure a preorder during the second wave last night?

If some are really desperate to play PSX/PS2/PS3 games, emulation is always an alternative. You can even play PSX roms on your smartphone today...

I know there was some confusion about this the other day. But Deathloop confirmed to be 1-year timed exclusive on PS5.

Deathloop is Timed-Exclusive on PS5 for One Year
Yeah one-year timed exclusivity is pretty standard for PlayStation nowadays. FF7 Remake and FF16, for example.

Well, timed exclusivity is still exclusivity. So, in terms of exclusive content, it still matters. And if you are a fan of that particular game series or franchise, you likely are not going to want to wait a full year before you can play it on another platform.

Like, with Final Fantasy, there was no way I'd be able to wait a full year to play 7 Remake on another platform. And we still don't know exactly what other platforms it will release on. It will likely come to PC. But Xbox? Who knows.

Same with FF 16. And that seems like it will skip Xbox entirely, only coming to PS5 first then PC.

7 Remake Part 2 (and future parts) will probably follow a similar pattern.

And it's factors like that which influenced my decision to go with PS5 over Series X.

This Demon's Souls comparison vids makes one of the most compelling arguments yet, imo, for next-gen (and PS5 specifically).

If anyone asks you why they should get a PS5 or go next-gen, just show them this video!

Yeah... usually anything I want to play that's a PS back-catalogue game, has been remastered digitally already. I missed the Uncharted hey-day... luckily bought the PS4 that came with the Uncharted 4 [1-3 remaster] and rocked out on all of those.

...probably won't ever play Tony Hawk now on N64. Mostly stick to GoldenEye, Mario64, and Cruisin' now.

If the Mass Effect Trilogy remaster is indeed true, that would cover some of the biggest PS3 era games I want to play again. And if they ever do a Dragon Age Origin/DA 2 remaster, as well as a collection of the classic FF games (1-6), that would pretty much cover the old games I'd be most interested in.

Surprised we haven’t got new Twisted Metal remasters...

Its almost here

Why? The last one didnt have a good reception, which pretty much killed Sony's interest in the franchise. Its not like its one of those IPs it keeps going back to

I'm a very patient gamer. I can definitely wait a year to play FF7 Remake, or FF16, on PC.

Not saying who or who's not responsible, but telling everyone you have limited amount of preorders at the last minute, of course websites are gonna crash.

Sony wants a frenzy and demand before November hits... which is smart on their part, but I'm okay with waiting.

There's always a limited number of preorders. What happened is on the retailers for opening up the preorders with no warning. Sony sent out an email saying the exact day an time their preorders would open and I signed up and went through a very smooth process this morning to snag one. No crashes or issues whatsoever

They also dont need a frenzy. These things were always going to sell out and with COVID being an issue, online preoders were gonna be bigger this gen now than ever before

I still can't believe I managed to secure one at gamestop before anybody else got to the store. I heard gamestop has something like 10 per store which is just insanity.

I am confident though that everybody will be able to get one this year.

Amazon still doesn't have any available. Honestly the way Sony has handled the PS5 has been such a **** show of drag ass messy tactics that I'm thinking the Xbox is the better option this year. Besides none of the PS5 exclusives I want come out this year.

So congratulations, Sony. You're doing a wonderful job marketing the Xbox to me.

Its coming. A portugese retail site just listed it. We just don't know when.
