World The Official Superman II Appreciation Thread

Okay I'm sure that a lot of people love the new cut of Superman II, but I still like the original version that came out. I love the fight Superman has with Zod, Ursa, and Non. The really only gripe I have is that Superman did not throw one punch, but in the other cut he did. Anyway I still have much reason to watch this movie more times than other films I own.

The RDC was interesting but I still prfer the other verson. They're both great.

I think I like the Restored International Cut best. It's the best (and longest) of both worlds, and has great scenes like the concorde flyby, Zod really mowing down soldiers with the machine gun (without smiling), and Non killing the village boy ("I said no-one leaves!"). Classic. Why on earth it's not in the Donner cut is beyond me.

Actually II was always my favourite out of the four. I know STM is clearly a superior film, but there are many aspects of Superman II that really appeal to me. For starters, the theme: the whole movie is about hope, and about Superman as a symbol of hope. I love the bit towards the end, just after he's found the crystal in the FOS, and it cuts back to Metropolis. You haven't seen him regain his powers or anything, but you don't need to. The music kicks in just as you see a gust of wind blowing these papers off a guy's newstand, and you just know; he's back!

Michael Thau screwed up. Also, where's YOUR version of Superman II? I've been waiting for almost 10 months now.

Loads of people have/are fan editing Superman II. Check out the Superman Cinema forums. I'm working on Batman Forever first. Then when I get onto Superman II, I'll be using parts of all three versions, so it will dip in picture quality for the RIC cut segments.

That is classic Superman swagger at it's finest. He was ready to fight 10,000 armies if need be at that particular moment. Let's see, I was 10 years old, and yep, that one moment in the movie was electrifying. I've been a fan ever since.
