The Official Tekken Movie Thread

For the amount of negative feedback people have been giving towards the film, it actually wasn't that bad. I enjoyed the fights, it was kinda disappointing to see that Christie didnt use Capoeria but oh well, Jon Foo did a good job as Jin, it was cool to see that they retained his hairstyle to some degree. With this film not having a pretty big budget, it was actually decent. I'm hoping they make a sequel in the near future

Would you buy it? Or was that how you watched it?

The action was amazing, especially Jon Foo and Lateef Crowder.

The acting was hit and miss. Luke Goss, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Ian Anthony Dale were incredible, but the background characters which were given dialogue were terrible and really pulled you out of the film. The other fighters barely have any lines, but Jon Foo and Kelly Overton were alright.

The dialogue was good a side from two lines: "This is Iron Fist" and the other one would be a spoiler to give away.

The film drew from Tekken 1 and 2 in terms of [BLACKOUT]the shift in power from Heihachi to Kazuya[/BLACKOUT], Tekken 3 in terms of [BLACKOUT]Jun training Jin, dying and then gaining guidance from Heihachi[/BLACKOUT], Tekken 5 in terms of some dialogue and [BLACKOUT]Jin getting control of the company in the end[/BLACKOUT], and Tekken 6 in terms of [BLACKOUT]corporation wars[/BLACKOUT]. By taking elements from all across the Tekken game timeline, the setting changes to a mix of it all.

This film does a great job in adapting six games to one 1.5hr movie.

Very enjoyable and worth seeing. ...oh and there's a sex scene.
I'm bumping this to the new page for those who are interested. Oh btw, there is a scene after the credits.

So, the main story is about Jin, Heihachi, and Kazuya while all the other characters from the game are just sorta there?

I got this movie myself last night, havent got around to watching it yet but hopefully I will over the weekend

Yes there is a scene after the credits

it basically shows the scene where the Jacks have seized Heihachi, he pretty much commands them to obey his orders and they lower their weapons

And to answer PyroChambers question, the story does revolve around Jin, Kazuya and Heihachi, the other characters that are feature have some sort of backstory to them. It wasn't done like Mortal Kombat Annihalition with 25 characters in one film

Ok seen it and it is 100% better then any Street Fighter or MK moive. It did feel like a very long isjointed cutsceen though and I dont understand how the tournament works some of the fighters who win dont get to the next round and then others just are straight into the final without fighting the rest? There were 2 fighters that didnt lose at all and they dont get another round, how does that work????

Wow, the fights were terrible.

What was wrong with them exactly?

The fight editing was almost decent, I guess.
But the choreography was so lazy and unisnspired.
I can't be excited about this stuff after seeing Larnel Stovall's choreography in Undisputed 3.
I expected a lot more from Cyril Raffaelli as a choreographer.

I see.

Was the choreography as bad as it was in most of the fights in TDK? Were it looked incredibly staged as opposed to fluid so when people watch it, it actually looks like they could be real fights.

Well, not, not that. Just what I said, I guess. Very lazy choreography. Nothing we haven't seen somewhere else done even better.

I get what you're saying about TDK, but it's a bit unfair to compare them.

One's a superhero thriller/drama that deals with morality issues, gang warfare, etc.

And the other's a videogame adaptation of a martial arts game where the story is "Let's all beat the **** out of one another in a torunament to win THE PRIZE" with some silly revenge subplot thrown in.

The fights aren't the main attraction in TDK, but in a movie like Tekken, they have to be.

Even if a movie fight doesn't look realistic, it can still be exciting, inventive and fun to watch. Google some Undisputed 3 fights. Hell, even Lateef was embarrassing compared to what he could do in Undisputed 3.

I'll google those when I get home from work. So basically you're saying that there wasn't any special or WOW moves in these fights. I still want to give the movie a chance because I never expected it to be that great anyways.

Yeah, man. You'll see what I mean.
I guess what's what I'm saying. I just expected so much more considering who was choreographing. But no, give it a chance. But be sure to watch Undisputed 2/3 after Tekken, not the other way around, trust me on this one.

I dunno what you're talking about. The fights were great, especially the Jin and Miguel fight. And the tournament wasn't the main plot at all! The tournament was the subplot to Jin's story. Jin even said he doesn't give a **** about the tourny.

Given the low budget, this movie was decent. The fight scenes could've been choreographed better IMO.

Kelly Overton's chest and ass cleavage FTW.

Watched It. Loved It. 8/10

Kelly Overton is Smokin Hot in the Movie. :D Yay for Ass Cleavage.

Knowing nothing about Tekken at all, do we get to see a fight between Luke Goss and Gary Daniels?

Most importantly...tell me about Yoshimitsu in the movie.

Most importantly...tell me about Yoshimitsu in the movie.

no problem

Yoshimitsu's role is a non-speaking role, there is a point in time where the rules of the fights change due to the fact that Kazuya overthrew Heihachi, he orders that Tekken becomes a fight to the death, Yoshimitsu fights Jin, Yoshimitsu has the upperhand the majority of the fight, but ultimately Jin wins
