You can only change it for free if when you first signed up you just took the gamertag they recommended for you.

I would've pay it up if it was no more than $5, but $10?! This is just ridiculous. And they can ban this feature to gamers who have had done something that was illegal or have cheated in the past, so they can't change their gamertag to wipe their slate clean.

That's a good thing. I still think they should give cheaters some kind of Mark of Shame in their Gamertag or profile. That would be badass. Maybe make their GT "CHEATER ###".
