Which is great, as long as they don't just keep repeating the same byline as though it means something without actually investigating/exploring it (much the same as they did with the "how would the world react to/is the world ready for..." stuff in MoS).

I guess what I'm saying is that if they're gonna go for it- go for it. Don't do it half-heartedly. Promethus had this same problem. You don't get points for simply raising questions.

It was so close yet so far... just one little step more it needs.

they could have the full closure by simply showing a montage of the headlines of the global newspapers about the alien attack, thought of the global leaders, the people n the survivors during the end credits rolling.
 
^ I think Nolan wanted to do an Earth-based story, and Snyder wanted a Krypton story. And Goyer tried to meet both demands that he kind of fell short.

Thus Krypton and its role thematically became shortchanged, but also overrode the story of "a deity among mortals."

I'm hoping they go back to reality in the sequel, with the fantasy elements only appearing in certain places (but I don't want everything forced into an internal logic. I am more than okay with magic and red suns.).
 
I hope the Snyer does not go overboard with the greys in the color correction and design this time. It's hard watching Watchmen, and seeing the film that is bursting with life in its design and color correction, and then Man of Steel, where if they had retired the grays, it would have been a completely gorgeous film, instead of a film with gorgeous moments.

I want to see him do both for SupermanBatman. The glossy, earthy, and gritty look for B-man, and the atmospheric and slightly hazy quality for Superman.

But I want natural colors, if at all possible.
 
A combination of the two is all I really would love to see.

I'm happy that he re-teamed with Larry Fong. Watchmen looked glorious.
 
^ Good news, it's gonna be the same cinematographer as 300/Watchmen/SP.
I wouldn't say we're out the woods yet, just from that hire. Amir worked on one of the Transformers films, which was as saturated and bright as one could make a film. The dullness was Snyder's direction. That could very well apply for the sequel as well.
 
^ If the studios can force 3D on him, they should be able to force natural looking colors on the director. That is all I ask of WB. Along with hiring a third writer (which seems to have happened)

Well, I'm just hoping that they maintain the "look" that they had (overall) for the quiet/down-to-Earth scenes that they had in "MOS".

When Krypton or some high scale visual effects wasn't playing on screen, "Man of Steel" was flawless, imho, with how they had shot the more peaceful moments.

The Church Scene, Bus Rescue, Little Clark running around with a Red Cape, etc.... they had a certain vibe to them that really separated them from an regular scene in other blockbuster/comic book genre films.

I'm not sure if I'm doing the best job in describing this, but whenever those moments came up, I would almost forget at times that I was watching a comic book/sci-fi genre film because those scenes could easily be viewed as scenes from a regular/realistic looking film, which I thought was a great thing.

With a lot of films, even when you see scenes that aren't action oriented or don't have some type of visual effects going on, you can still tell (in some cases) that they're scenes from blockbuster films....MOS, not much imho.

Red suns are not fantasy, the vast majority of stars in the universe are substantially redder than the sun.

I'm just speculating. All Nolan's films tend to be Earth-based. Even Inception talked more ABOUT creating a fictional world than actually doing so.

On the other hand, maybe Nolan was multitasking with TDKR, so he didn't give Superman enough thought.

I feel like Snyder did what he could to prevent this from being a typical feeling Superman movie, though I think he should have found a more relaxed editor and not pressured Goyer to do more action (though that could be WB's doing).

"Believe it or not there was another action scene – we didn’t film it. After Zod first announces himself [the Krpytonians] provide a demonstration of their might. They drop Faora into Shanghai and NamEk, who is the big eight foot tall guy who doesn’t speak, they drop him another foreign city.

It was another five pages of crazy Kryptonian destruction. We didn’t need it."

Bottom line, someone went hogwild in MOS, and the film suffered a bit.

Talking about action, suckers punch has more action than MOS!!! Kick ass action!!! From fighting giant samurai, zombies, monsters, dragon to robots! !!

And it's all incredibly boring- Because none of it means anything.

The dreams are how the characters cope with a horrific reality-and somehow involve dragons/robonazis and robo-samurai. And they wear the same clothes, when they can easily imagine more battle-ready garb. :funny:
