The Passage

I read the first one and really liked it. I have the 2nd one too but haven't really had the time to start it. It does makes more sense as a TV show than a film. I bet the first season will only tackle parts 1 & 2 of the first book since it's a contained story. Should be interesting on who they cast as the lead girl and if they're going to age her up a bit. Wolgast will probably be played by a semi-known name.

Fox has handed out a pilot order for a TV series adaptation of Justin Cronin’s vampire drama novel trilogy “The Passage”
The first book was published in 2010 and starts out as a character-driven government conspiracy thriller before morphing into a post-apocalyptic vampire saga spanning over a century. The story focuses on a young girl named Amy who must save the human race.
Elizabeth Heldens (“Friday Night Lights”) is slated to pen and “Let Me In” helmer Matt Reeves to executive produce alongside “The Good Wife” EPs Ridley Scott and David W. Zucker. Cronin will co-exec produce.
This marks the third drama order for Fox for next season. Also on the way are Matt Nix’s “X-Men” spin-off, and Seth MacFarlane’s space opera dramedy “Orville”.
Vampires are on the way out it seems with “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Strain” ending up, TNT passing on its planned “Let The Right One In” series adaptation, and the fate of “The Originals” still in flux. The CW still has “The Lost Boys” series reboot in development.

Pray to God they handle the jump from page to TV better than The Strain. Because..... oof. :o

‘The Passage’: Mark-Paul Gosselaar To Topline Fox Vampire Pilot

Pitch star Mark-Paul Gosselaar is staying in the Fox/20th TV fold with a starring role in their off-cycle drama pilot The Passage, co-produced by Scott Free. Also cast in the project, based on author Justin Cronin’s best-selling trilogy of the same name, are child actress Saniyya Sidney (FX/20th TV’s American Horror Story), Time After Time star Genesis Rodriguez, Brianne Howey (Fox/20th TV’s The Exorcist), BJ Britt (Fox/20th TV pilot Behind Enemy Lines) and Jennifer Ferrin (Time After Time).

The pilot takes advantage of its off-cycle timing by casting several actors who just became available after their series got canceled (Gosselaar, Rodriguez, Ferrin) or their pilot did not go forward (Britt). The Passage also reunites Pitch star Gosselaar with Britt, who recurred on the baseball series.

Written by Liz Heldens and directed by Marcos Siega, The Passage is described as an epic, character-driven thriller that morphs into a post-apocalyptic odyssey.

Hopefully they don't mess this up. :)

Vampire epic The Passage finally gets series order at Fox

At long last, vampire epic The Passage is officially a go for a TV series at Fox.

The project is based on Justin Cronin’s best-selling trilogy of novels and has had a long road to air. The Passage was first developed back in 2011 as a potential feature film trilogy by Let Me In director Matt Reeves. When that didn’t work out, The Passage transformed into a series idea instead, and Fox went and shot a pilot last year. But the network opted not to pick up The Passage for this season. In a relatively rare move for a broadcast network, Fox instead decided to rework the script and re-shoot the pilot with several cast changes and a new director (Jason Ensler, who regularly worked on Fox’s The Exorcist series, replacing Marcos Siega). Fox must have liked the result, because this new version — first photo above — is finally greenlit.

Odd. That entire trailer is only about like just a quarter of the first book. I wonder if that's only what the first season will tackle? They didn't even show anything about the parts where
Wolgast and Amy were trying to ride out the nuclear bomb eruption in the cabin
. The real story happens after the outbreak. That's where the vampires, apocalypse, colonies, etc. will come in.

Well like all Upfront Trailers or Promos in Generall these are only Shots from the Pilot

Weird, I thought it was zombies, based on the trailer.

Was this in development as a movie at one point?

It looks ok, Zack Morris action hero! :woot:

The book was HUGE. It wouldn't surprise me if they got two or even three seasons out of it depending on how many episodes it runs.

I'm always a sucker for trailers that use ''Running up that hill'' by Placebo in them

Zack Morris finally doing horror? that sounds interesting.

Looks fine, will check.

"Running up that hill" by Kate Bush, remake by Placebo :) ( but I guess you knew ).

I'll give it a chance. :)

Premiers tonight.

I have to wait until I get home from work. :(

I'm interested but the trailer kind of made it look like 'The Last of Us' with vampires.

I'll wait for some reviews because this seems like one of these shows that gets cancelled after only one season... and even if it's good, the show has to have great ratings to survive on Fox. (I'm still not over The Exorcist :argh:)
