Let's begin.

What do you want of the next movie? Do you want a new movie? Will there be a new movie? How about that after credits scene? Is he really back?

All about the possible sixth film of the series here!

I for one WANT new movie. I enjoyed Dead Men Tell no Tales and I love Davy Jones so I want to see another one. But I believe they must do it within 4 years, beacuse Depp is getting old...fast.

I definitely want another Pirates movie. Yes, they're long and bloated, yes they are basically doing the same thing over and over, but something about that music and that color palette, the sets, the wardrobe... Every time I go back to that universe I get all excited and it just feels right. And I legitimately disliked the 4th movie.

DMTNT was not the best Pirates movie, but I think it was a step in the right direction. My personal wish for this franchise is to bring Davy Jones back as a legit main villain, and make Jack a competent pirate again. In CotBP he may have had some goofy mannerisms, but he was still totally in control, always had a way out and was a total badass. But he's gotten weirder and more slapstick-silly in each movie since then, ESPECIALLY P4 and P5.

Give me Davy Jones, the Kraken, and a Captain Jack who actually knows what he's doing and doesn't just go screaming and waving his arms in the air, and I think that would be a perfect send-off for the franchise. And if they can get Verbinski to come back and direct, even better.

If you're gonna do another one, don't bring back Jones, Will and Elizabeth. I feel like this is the **** that got Alien Covenant in trouble. Just bringing something back that's familiar doesn't mean more people will see it or it'll be a better movie. Just make a great movie. That's how the first film started it all in the first place.

This mythology has so much potential. It could be like Star Wars. You don't need Jack Sparrow just like you don't need Luke, Han and Leia to tell a great new story.

I wouldn't be surprised in ten years from now this franchise will be rebooted with some writers room sketching out a series of new films.

I have posted on here after PotC 3 that I wanted to see mermaids and they did that for 4. After 4, I posted on here I want to see sharks and they gave us sharks for 5.

Now, if they read these boards and that isn't a coincidence, a) I want my name in the credits and b) I would like to see a water dragon/sea serpent in 6. Even a hydra would work. The Kraken is dead so Jones would need another intimidating creature with teeth.

Side note...we haven't seen any whales in a movie about the oceans...so throw in a giant whale.

As for what the grail of the movie would be...I have no idea. Just find a cool relic in mythology. Might be cool to involve a volcano?

Davy Jones is one of my favorite movie villains, but I'd be worried about what they'd do to the character after what they've done to Jack. It was obvious nobody involved in making 5 had a real passion for the previous movies given all the wheel spinning and lack of continuity involved (not having the screenwriters from the first four movies was really felt).

It is amazing that this is an 11year old VFX. It is Oscar worthy even in today standards.

If he is back, Can't wait to see if they can make it even better (if possible?)

I certainly hope they don't make it any worse.

There's your explanation for his return.

Bruckheimer disagrees. He said the other day that POTC without Jack Sparrow isnt happening.

So unless Depp dies or gets arrested and given a prison sentence or Bruckheimer leaves the films Depp will probably be in POTC until it ends.

They definitely need to close off the jack sparrow storyline. It should be done now. Would be cool if they could encounter the leviathan!

Honestly, I'm not sure that a sixth film will happen. Prior to the release, Disney was referring to this as "the beginning of the final chapter." I noticed earlier this week, since box office receipts came back, it is now being advertised in TV spots as "THE final chapter/final entry/finale" etc. I think the franchise is just about done. A big drop this weekend will be the final nail.

Which makes sense, Disney doesn't need this anymore. They have other tent poles, be it live action adaptions of their cartoon classics (which are making bank), Pixar releases, the Star Wars and Marvel movies...Disney is doing just fine in terms of big budget tent poles. This franchise is not as important to Disney as it was in 2006 or so.

Moreover, it just seems creatively bankrupt at this point. Probably best to let it die.

This logic is the problem with the franchise. Jack's story was closed in Curse of the Black Pearl. He got his revenge and he got his ship. That is all there is to Jack Sparrow. He is a trickster archetype. There isn't much depth there or anything that needs to be closed or told. The more Disney tries to shoehorn him into a lead role, rather than that of a supporting character, the worse the franchise becomes.

For me, Jack was supporting in the original trilogy. Will and Elizabeth were the true leads - or at least co-leads.

The best thing for a sixth film will be to have Will and Elizabeth as leads and Davy Jones as the villain and have Jack as supporting character to help them.

PS: When will they announce if there is going to be a new one? On IMDB they have the film with status (announced). But this is IMDB so...

I hope that too. An example comes to mind - Optimus Prime.

He has such a good CGI in the first 3 TF films and hilariously cartoonish one in the 4th one. Unfortunately, Bay is again going with the cartoonish one for the 5th film...

I absolutely love the world of POTC but I agree it's time to let Jack Sparrow retire. He was a great character for a great movie in COTBP but since then its been downhill. Classic case of beating a popular character to death.

I think the franchise itself is so rich that not rebooting and making more pirates movies would be a shame. Get some new blood and start telling great pirate tales like COTBP and I see no reason Disney should stop making Pirates movies.

I'd personally like to see the fantasy aspect and silliness toned down. A movie similar to Assassin's Creed: Black Flag would be the sweet spot.

Also "the Dutchman must always have a captain."

Phew, I thought I would get yelled at for suggesting that but I'm glad people are on board!

Yep, get some new leads and a new comedic supporting character and the franchise will bloom again

As long as he's on board, yeah, Depp will stay. Which is why I say they're better off with a soft reboot down the line. By that point Bruckheimer will be too old and you'll get in more fresh people.

I don't get why a producer as smart as Bruckheimer doesn't want to try to create another lead that could carry this franchise. Does he like having to deal with Depp's ******** and demands and having to pay him a ton of cash to keep doing these movies? Having another lead would give him options if nothing else.

I think it's like breaking up with someone. It sounds like the last thing you want to do but when it finally happens you realise it's healthier for both of you.

I wonder who else could do the comedic role though? I hope they don't get Channing Tatum. Although maybe if they balanced him out with Jess Chastain

Can't see Disney bothering to do a Pirates movie without Jack Sparrow. He basically is the franchise. But they should do one more movie to wrap it all up and then end it. It's run its course.
