more mainstream stuff: rage against the machine: any album (the only band to sucsessfuly combine rap and rock, Tom Morello is the most innovative guitarsist ever)
The Clash : london calling
u2: achtung baby: a huge departure fom their typical sound a kind of dark fusion of rock and roll with dance rythyms.

Faith No More
Angel Dust
truly wonderful, this was FNM's third album, the first after the mega success they got from that little song called Epic, from their album the Real Thing
few bands get this much expectation for an album, and very fewer bands both break and surpass those expectations by relseasing the most unexpected album
FNM became popular for their eclectic style and the genre jumping they woudl do between songs, but this album is where they just took it to a whole new level
12 songs that sound like nothing you've ever heard, that have no relation whatsoever and yet, you know that it is the same band playing them all
while there seems to be no connection between the tracks, it also seems that they are all interconected, makig this a sort of concept album, without a concept
sadly, the general public did not understand what these guys were so clearly stating: "don't you EVER take us for granted"
I don't have enough good words for this album
choice cuts: "Caffeine", "midlife crisis", "Be Aggressive", "midnight cowboy"

more to come

No, I think they are very..very boring.
How about Dr. Octagon.?
He was very experimental, and really blurred the lines of hip-hop with Dr.Octagonologist.
I also recommend you lsiten to anything from Del and the Hyeroglyphics, they are very good, and Del gets a chance to really shine when he's in this band, his later stuff is kind of derivative.

I like some hip hop public enemy,Buck 65, Dose one,de la soul KRS-one,Sage Francis.

The singer needs to stay away from helium for a while.

Lol but he is talented, you have to give him that. Not to mention their music is completely original.

oh, by the way, I would like to thnk all participants on this thread

the whole point is to share what we consider to be great music with each other

I am already making a list of things that I will DL tonight

and that's what I would like for this thread to be place where you can find something ineteresting to listen to

and also, as a way to plug great music that needs to be heard more

upcoming reviews:
Yo La Tengo
Girls Against Boys
Blue Man Group

Duncan Sheik
Phantom Moon

One of the best efforts by this singer-songwritter (though he didn't write any songs in this album) the arrangements are sparse, even minimal. and his voice as always is the centerpiece of the album. the subjects tackled are rather introspective but are so beautifully written that the words themselves come together with the music as if they were always meant to.

a perfect circle
linkin park
i mother earth
rage against the machine

sorry for skiping some places in line, but I HAD TO submit this one to you all
do yourself a favor, stop doing what you are doing right now and go buy this album, burn it from a friend or DL it, but get it
you need this one

Sigur Ros
Ágætis Byrjun

although they're praised more for their latest album ( ), (yes, that's the name) this one just tells you everything you need to know about them:
beautiful, enthralling, soothing, inspiring, overwhelming, erotic, fullfilling
like a mixture between Bjork, Radiohead, PinkFloyd and the sound that Angels make when they crash
track number four is one of the most orgasmic pieces of music I've ever heard
this is an album to listen to while you feel depressed, the beauty of it's contents is enough to pull you out of whichever gloom you may be dwelling in
one of the distinguishing characteristics of this band is the fact that they don't sing in english, or spanish or any other language I am familiar with, yet, they transmit so much through accurately touching vocal melodies and instrumental arrengements
the cream of the crop: I can't spell the damn names of the songs, but trust me on this, you can play any song here and it will be worth it

Duran Duran
Frou Frou
Stone Temple Pilots
what else
and of course
Patton Dammit

I recommend any album by Jawbreaker, but specifically 24 Hour Revenge Therapy. I just started listening to them over the summer and their stuff is some of the coolest punk rock out there with really great lyrics.

I want to do another write up, but I'm soooo tired

The Noise Made By People

If you ever liked Mazzy star but thought yourself to Manly to admit it, here's a brittish band that combines a healthy dose of Nostalgia with great experimentation and a female vocalist that just makes every minute of the songs a delight.
It's somewhat reminisscent of Black Box Recorder for those who have heard them.
I DLed it, and lemme tell you, it's a great, great, great album

it kinda reminds me of Yo La Tengo

but much more sexy
