Tee hee, an ex once told me that I looked like David Bazan.

Priests and Paramedics is my fave Pedro track.

the clientele (very brittish, very good)

the earlies (awesome moody band)

team sleep (with chino more from deftones, but nothing like deftones)

and Plas...if you dug Lake trout, you'll probably like Rollerskate Skinny.
will do

The Black Angels (a cool, new psychedelic band from Austin)
Matisyahu (Hasidic Jew reggae artist)
John Mayer Trio (He should keep playing the blues. This album is a million times better than his other stuff.)

milemaker's new album "ominosity" and wolf parade's "apologies to the queen mary" are the two albums that i can't stop listening to lately.

saldy, my computer's been sick for a while now and until it gets better I won't be able to access new music anytime soon

by the way, this thread was started in 2004 now that I think about it, it's lasted a while and kept on topic

congratulations everyone

Sonic Youth
Daydream Nation

The godfathers of Alternative created their masterpiece in this stripped down, distortion laden Indie-rock album.

Pavement
Slanted and Enchanted

Another early essential alt-rock album. Low-Fi Indie rock filled with fractured riffs and great melodies. Definitely one of the most influential CDs of the 1990's.

The Butthole Surfers are/were a great band, and another of the fathers of alternative rock I'd say. Personally, I like them better than Sonic Youth. Electric Larryland is a great album. Also, if you like the Butts, I suggest listening to Gibby Haynes and His Problem.

I just got a copy of Film School's self titled album and it's amazing. They're kinda shoegazer-ish with lots of reverb, a touch of distortion and some tape-looped soundscapes in the background. Highly recommended if you like Mogwai, the Velvets, Pink Floyd, the Cure or Interpol

Amorphis... fantastic band from Finland. Here is a couple of songs from their new album coming out next month. I ripped these two off the single I bought from Nuclear Blast Europe. I bought a shirt and the single cd and it cost me about $50.00 because of friggin shipping and handling to the U.S.

House Of Sleep

Stone Woman

dude.....i f**king love iggy pop....just thought i'd remind everyone...

I love you dude, get their new album "Menos el Oso", if you haven't already. Oh and "They Make Beer Commercials Like This" as well, both are amazing.

I haven't looked through much of this thread, but i'll just throw out some bands that i'm really into right now, a lot have probably been mentioned already, but you never know. I was gonna mention Minus the Bear and The Decemberists, but they've been covered already.

The New Pornographers
The Hold Steady
Sufjan Stevens
My Morning Jacket
Dismemberment Plan
Destroyer
Belle & Sebastian
And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead
Sparklehorse
Ted Leo & The Pharmacists
Metric

My sister has one of thier albums maybe I should give it a go.

Well, I wouldn't say quite fifteen years ago... unless you somehow jumped on them immediately as kids coming out with their demos. Unfortuently, you have about fifteen or so years on me. I would have been about four or so if I had heard them when you apparantly did. Good band though.

slipknot? why do you like slipknot? doesn't it just seem as contrived as Marilyn Manson withouthte added entertainment value?

Slipknot is far better than Marilyn Manson. I would like Slipknot with or without the masks. I just love their music and they put on one hell of a show live. Slipknot is a band I have grown up loving since I was in middle school back when I was about fourteen.

it's just I was listening to that "people = ****" song and I couldn't stop laughing, and that guy bellowing like an enphisema patient over the "music".

Well, all four of Slipknot's albums are very different. The song you listened to is from "Iowa", which is one of their heavier albums for sure. Have you listened to anything off their last album "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)"? You should listen to a bit of that album if you are into a bit softer kind of music.

This is the same band...

Vermilion Pt. 2

Slipknot's drummer is very talented. That's more than I can say for the rest of the band though.
