I said the first thing, I'm assuming MM said the second. Just FYI.

and yeah, that's a great song (assuming you meant Heartbeats, :o). but they all are. I had no idea it was a cover though. :O

check out Lovestain (kinda mistitled it, but yknow.) and then go buy/dl the cd. :O

I did, I was posting in a bit of a rush and accidentally switched names.

fave albums of '05/'06:

the silver jews - "tanglewood numbers"
bloc party - "silent alarm"
mogwai - "mr. beast"
architecture in helsinki - "in case we die"
hot snakes - "audit in progress"
my morning jacket - "z"
the new pornographers - "twin cinema"
...and you will know us by the trail of dead - "worlds apart"
milemarker - "ominosity"

i'm probably forgetting some, but these are highly recommended if you're into indie rock/post-punk or just original rock that doesn't sound like the crap on top 40 radio or mtv.

Sufjan Stevens. You know those songs that make you feel like your life just flashed before your eyes? Like the song was made specifically for you? Like the music just launched you into a great epiphany? That's every song by Sufjan Stevens. Check out the album Greetings From Michigan: The Great Lake State, specifically the song For The Widows In Paradise, For The Fatherless In Ypsilanti. If that doesn't bring tears to your eyes and make you obsessed with this band, you have no pulse.

Hum, to each his own I guess.

By the by, everyone needs to listen to Emergency & I by the Dismemberment Plan.

One of the few flawless records i've heard.

YES!!!

Other Dismemberment Plan fans on here? I don't meet them often.

architecture in helsiki's "in case we die" is a really fun album.

I haven't heard it yet, but I love Fingers Crossed.

yeah, "fingers crossed" is a really good album but "in case we die" is even better. they took their songwriting and composition to the next level. not to mention the fact that they're even more upbeat and catchier than before. i highly recommend it if you're already a fan of their work.

If you're a fan of indie music, or just any music for that matter...

Has anyone heard Yeah Yeah Yeahs' new single Gold Lion? Thoughts?

i'm not really a fan of jenny lewis or rilo kiley. i did get to see them play once at some tiny little veggie-restaurant a few years ago in omaha. it was really cramped and i was standing about two feet from ol' awful waffle himself. true story.

I dunno man, I love Jenny Lewis' voice.

yeah, she's got a good voice but the music doesn't do much for me.

I just want to tell everyone that Pedro The Lion is a great band, you should be listening to them

I just realized that Control by PTL is a concept album that relates the similarities between failing marriages and consumistic capitalism

yup. plus, i loved hearing them "rock out" for once.

I think I might have already posted something about this, but just in case:

Jonathan Coulton.

His version of "Baby Got Back" is pretty much my favorite song right now, but everything I've heard is phenomenal. Subscribe to his podcast "Thing a Week" or buy some stuff online (there's lots of music to download free too), really awesome, often funny stuff. Only problem is, I often find myself not knowing if the song is a cover, original thing, remix, or what. But that's probably my fault. :o
Also, check out this awesome "Video", ugh, it's so awesome.

Why doesn't everyone love Electric Six?
Is it because they haven't heard of them or because they're stupid?
