Heh. For a recomendation... check out Ihsahn's new solo album "The Adversary." Ihsahn is the vocalist in Emperor and Zyklon B. His new stuff really isn't like the old Emperor at all... it's a bit like new Emperor. He has death metal vocals, clean vocals, and power metal vocals in the album. It is very good.

i've only heard that one song of theirs, the 'be my rock and roll queen'...but god damn, does that song SUUUUUUUUUUCK!!! it really sucks in the vein of a car accident on the side of the road....where you cant even believe how bad it is that you just gotta stay and watch (or in this case listen).

I find them to be a bit too generic industrial, but to each their own.

In case they haven't been recomended yet Gogol Bordello rules! Gypsy punk rock with a great sense of humor. Check out the song When The Trickster Starts A-Poking (Bordello Kinda Guy). If that doesn't make you want to dance like a fool, you're so boring you may as well be dead.

I wouldn't call them industrial. They have no metal element at all. They sound like a new wave band...but like a true '80s new wave band, not one of these throwback groups that are so popular lately.

I was gonna say New Wave/Goth, but then thought industrial (in league with bands like Muse) was appropraite.

You consider Muse industrial? I've always thought of bands like NIN, Ministry, KMFDM and Rammstein as being industrial. Industrial as I understand it is heavy metal mixed with electronica.

They're definatly on the "lite" side of the spectrum, but I'd consider them to be industrial.

the lighter side of the spectrum would be synth pop

and SWR sounds like a Joy Division/New Order/Bauhaus copycat with very good songs thrown in

I think a distinction has to be made between synth pop/rock such as The Sounds or Polysics, and bands like Muse.

i've heard of them but haven't listened to their music. they're signed to saddle creek records so they play here in omaha sometimes. i'll have to give them a listen sometime.

That is the band she fronts. It's good Iggy Pop style garage rock. I actually have never seen any of her movies so I have no opinion of her other than she makes a surprisingly good singer/frontwoman for someone who came straight from acting.
