i heard tokyo police club is rumored to be signing to saddle-creek records. they just played here at the new saddle-creek owned club/mini-mall "slowdown" and they announced they were signing to an omaha label, which could only mean saddle-creek records. i'll probably get more chances to see them play, if that's the case.

I recommend Black Rebel Motorcycle club. I saw them yesterday at a concert, man they rocked.

From the first post in this thread:

Ladrytron

imagine what would you get if you mix Depeche Mode, Erause/Pet Shop Boys, old psychodelic music and Britney Spears and added some heroin to the mix, and that's kinda like what this album sounds like.
it's basically techno pop, with the added bonus of really intelligent songwritting and clever arrengements that breathe a very unique style into this group
perfect for late night parties, with enough 80's nostalgia thrown in the mix, one of the best dance albums I've heard
outstanding songs: "he took her to a movie", "jet age", "I'm with the pilots", "Ladybird"

My younger brother in San Francisco was the first who told me about Ladytron, but after glancing at this thread 3 years ago I actually listened to an entire CD and I've loved 'em ever since. "Destroy Everything" is still one of my favorite dance-club songs of this decade.

So what does everyone think of the new Spoon album? It's probably album of the year so far for me, with Planet of Ice by Minus the Bear at a very close second.

oh wow, my friends band (the hard lessons) just got a gig opening for iggy and the f**king stooges!!! who, by the way, are gods amongst men. and i totally get to go hang out backstage with them! im stoked!

is anyone a fan or page france? i saw them last week with bishop allen and was really impressed. they played an unrecognizable but ****ing amazing cover of jets to brazil's song "sea anemone" (one of my favorite jtb songs). i guess they're mostly an acoustic band on their albums but they used electric equipment when i saw them and sounded a thousand times better and more powerful than on their recordings. check them out. bishop allen's really good too. they're less folky than page france and more garage rock-y.

the latest album from the new pornographers, "challengers" is amazing. no big surprise there.

i can't wait for the new band of horses album next month.

I've been listening to a lot of Electric Six lately. These guys are deranged geniuses. Can't wait for their new album next month.

I've been listening to a ton of second gen hardcore lately and I have to say, Uniform Choice is too good to not be listening to.

Good album. "Underdog" is getting a bit overplayed but it's still a good song. "I Turn My Camera On" was overplayed as well.

haven't heard it, yet. my wife wants to pick it up, though, so i'll let you know later.

it's probably old news by now, but the national's "boxer" is a pretty sweet album.

I recommend anything by Bruce Springsteen...not that any of you care about his music...great lyrics and gutiar solo aren't in style anymore.
