The CD I'm Diggin' in right now is Classic Sinatra. Famous Songs like "I've Got the World on a String," "Oh! Look at Me Now" "One for my Baby (and One More for the Road)," and "I've Got you Under My Skin" are some of the featured tracks.

Frankie Blues Eyes is always a really good choice, I have a one of his greatest hits collection here, I just love how he emotes such a *****ure emotion out of those songs

Yeah, no matter how trendy and popular music is today, Franky will always be the greatest singer who ever lived.

apparently the new white stripes single, BLUE ORCHID, is available on iTunes. just type blue orchid in the search and it should come up. the song is drastically different from previous WS material (i.e. jack singing falsetto the whole song)...and i wasnt sure about it at first. but, after listening to it a couple times, i absolutely love it.

Fear Factory

Here are some good songs from them:

Descent
Replica
What will Become
Resurrection
Messiah
Digimortal
Timelessness

The Murder City Devils

Such an amazing, intense band. Just straight up rock and roll mixed in with some old school punk.

Pick up the albums "In Name And Blood" and "Broken Bottles Empty Hearts" you won't regret it.

I'll check it out, but I've always thought that The White Stripes were over-rated. I Have their first three CDs (The White Stripes, DeStijl, & White Blood Cells) and enjoyed them at the time. I've heard Elephant but it never really grabbed me. They just start to sound the same to me after a while. Now an excellent guitar/vocals & drums two-piece is The Black Keys! They may be a little more traditional bluesy, but it fits them well. They are coming to T-town in June and I've already secured the night off. I can't wait! Do yourself a favor and check them out. I'll listen to the W.S.'s tune and give it a fair chance.

ohmygawd!!! the dickwad who thinks linkin park is the best band ever is questioning my taste in music

not only that, the penishead with the constant political comment who has no backroiund whatsoever for his comments is actually questioning my taste in music

not only that, the narrowminded simpleton who hasn't even had the third of my traveled road IN MUSIC, which is one of the few topics I think I have some minimal sort of knowldge of is questioning my taste in music

I'm not even going into the severe lack of proper usage of the english language...

question, how do you tell an idiot apart from an imbecile? the imbecile is not aware of his own stupidity
Dude, look at his sig...he's clearly the smartest man in the world. Anyhoo, a band I've been pushing for a while...Silvertide. A rock band from North Philly who sound like your favorite classic rock stations fused into one band. DL their single "Ain't Comin' Home". They're starting to gain popularity, but they still rock.

White Stripes are more about the transfer of shamanistic Sex-Rock energy than about "music".On that level, they are rivaled only by Led Zeppelin, but I sort of agree,I only want to listen to WS when I'm drunk.

Sober?,the lo-fi producton and performance, lyrical idiosyncracies, intentional repetition and "childishness",and the decidedly "Girly" drums can be a bit much.
But I feel as if the video for 7 Nation Army is the best Rock and Roll video ever made.

TLATOANI, why don't you put you money where your (big) mouth is and suggest some music that YOU like, instead of critisizing others' choices?

BTW, Your signature does show your lack of intellegence! I'd love to see the burning of an American flag too...if you were wrapped in it! I love my country. I may question our leaders and policies at times, but that's one of the great things about the U.S.A...we CAN DO THAT! I wouldn't want to live anywhere else! And if it is so bad, then why do so many of your fellow countrymen break the law daily to come here? (No disrespect intended towards you or your nationality, PLAS...this idiot just pi$$ed me off!)

and as far as the first emo band, methinks the honor goes to fugazi or minor threat, even Black Flag's Damaged is an example of seminal emo-core

Definatly Minor Threat. Another canidate might be Jawbreaker.

Ratatat
Imagine Satriano's guitar licks laid over the beats and blips of Dntel and you begin to get an idea of what these guys sound like. Instrumental synth rock has never sounded so good.

The Ditty Bops
Part ragtime, part vauldeville, part daydream... add female harmonies (real harmonies, not just two girls singing at the same time) and you've got magic. The Ditty Bops released my favorite album of the year easily.

The Fiery Furnaces -- Blueberry Boat
With songs that are more like symphonies, FF will switch from hardcore electronica to honky tonk in a heartbeat. Abrupt changes seem offputting at first, but as you listen themes start to fade in and out and what first seemed an akward mess becomes a masterpeice.

Well, if you're into Evanescence and Nightwish type music, I highly recommend Lacuna Coil.

I thought Elephant was their best. I'd always thought they were overrated untill I heard Jack's slide guitar on that album. Brilliant stuff.

I like some hip hop public enemy,Buck 65, Dose one,de la soul KRS-one,Sage Francis.

Sage Francis is almost more spoken word. Jurrasic Five is great. Blackalicious are amazing. RjD2 rocks my socks.

Polysics
I can't recomend these guys enough. I can't really describe them either. They baisically play lots of covers of 80's New Wave Pop (Tears For Fears, Devo, stuff like that) but they rock out. Check em out and fall in love. You will be able to listen to My Sharona with your buds and still be cool!

Eliott Smith -- Figure Eight
Arguably the quintisential indy album (if you want to be a scenster snob but please don't be). This entire album is worth getting just for Happiness nevermind the other brilliant tracks like Son of Sam.

Blackalicious are amazing

i love you. tremendous, tremendous group. "NIA" is the best hip hop/rap album i've ever heard, which says a lot since I live and die by Nas' "Illmatic."

Blackalicious, Gift of Gab, Common, Talib Kweli, Jurassic 5, The Roots, Nas... people looking to broaden their tastes should check these artists out

Death from Above 1979

pure rockage. these guys rock my face.
