The PLASmatic Music Recomendations

I recommend Wesley Willis. He was (he died a couple years ago) a 300 lb. schizophrenic man from Chicago who was often homeless. But he played music on a cheap keyboard and sang clever, hilarious, off-the-wall, and often vulger songs. he has several superhero themed songs, namely "I Whooped Batman's Ass". Good stuff.
 
Colonel Clypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains consists of Les Claypool on bass and vocals, Buckethead on guitar, Bernie Worell (Funkadelic) on keyboards, and Brain (Primus) on drums. Crazy, funky stuff. I wouldn't expect any less from Claypool, especially considering the band he has on this one. They put out an album in 2004.

i posted a thread on this forum when he died, and everyone acted like i was crazy. it was then that i lost all faith in humanity. i do my best to carry on his legacy in my personal life, though, as i often tell co-workers to "suck a cheetah's dick."

i loved wesley willis! his songs got pretty repeditive, but they were always funny. i love how he headbutted everyone he met and ended up with a permanent bruise on his forehead as a result. r.i.p. ww.

Yeah. I'm convinced that the guy was a genius. I've been to one website that called him Mozart of the 20th Century. Anyway, schizophrenics are interesting. Because they have these "demons" they percieve the world differently. And the ones that do art of any kind always have a unique, unexpected style. Of course, I would prefer that people not have to suffer from this affliction but man does it allow for some creative stuff.
 
Radio Birdman. They were a sort of surf-punk, proto-grunge band active in the '70s. Right now the only album for sale in stores and online is a compilation album of thier music released by SubPop.
 
Underworld. kind of defies any point to me...it's not like it's house, or techno......or...uh...punk?
it's good though...but stay the hell away from "change the weather" cuz it's their worst...(they have 2 bad albums before they had a DJ, they were kind of soft cellish) basically any album where the lead singer's face is displayed prominently, instead of an image run through about 37,000 photoshop filters and effects, because those are gold.

great, I've heard many of these albums, some I have, but why do you recommend them?
 
I'd recommend these records because I don't think there is any filler on any of them, they represent; I think, the best of these artists. The records have a good thematic flow and don't try and re-invent the wheel. You can dance to them, sit down and think about them, or just have'em on in the background while you clean the kitchen.

why rejoice for another movie about Joy Division? wasn't there 24 Hour Party People enough?

and are the SP coming back or is mr Corgan doing another solo thing with the Pumpkins moniker?
 
I didn't know that there was already as movie about Joy Division:O :O I looked it up and it seems that 24 was more about JD's music lable founder Tony Wilson and about the culture at that time, also it was a comedy. The new one "Control" is all about Ian Curtis based on his widow's book. The Smashing Pumpkin thing is happening though. ::up: SOURCE: http://www.nme.com/news/smashing-pumpkins/22129
