I bloody hope not I just bought a ps3 slim around christmas.

As did I.

I did buy PS3 about 2 weeks ago. I don't want buy another PS console.

If you guys, like me, didn't buy your PS3 until it was about 4 years old then I doubt you'll be first in line to purchase a PS4.

One good thing that will come of a PS4 system is that the prices on all PS3 games will drop drastically and they have a great many games that are highly enjoyable, much more than I've gotten around to playing.

I also don't think there would be a deadstop to PS3 game production as the system has hardly been fully exploited yet.

All that said it seems much too early for a PS4 release, making a new console solely to appease to developers is a crap idea.

Wasn't it said time and time again that Sony isn't investing as much in the PS4 due to the PS3... Under performing?

If we see anything "solid" on the PS4 at E3 2012 I'll be shocked. I'm sure they'll talk about it but we won't see anything solid... I still cling to that.

I highly doubt I get a PS4 anyway... not at launch. I barely touch my PS3 as is.

interesting i am sure they will be working on the PS4 because i think the people who made Killzone 2 and 3 said that they are working on the new Killzone for next Gen.

I never buy any electronic devices at launch. There's always some type of issue. I prefer to wait until enough time has passed that the major issues are identified and fixed.

Although my PS2 is the first version and, after 8 years, it's still great.

I'll probably only be a one console person next gen... At least until a Slim version of the PS4 comes out. Next Xbox at launch for me... then maybe whatever Nintendo has to offer then the PS4.

I think I'll be sticking with Nintendo and Sony again next generation. Sony has really improved their first party offerings this generation and I just love getting the games developed by Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, and Media Molecule. Same with Nintendo, I need my fix of Zelda, Metroid, and Mario.

This is exactly my game preference. Both Nintendo & Sony offer what I want separately. Nintendo's 3rd party sucks (I doubt the Wii U will deliver as much as they claim it will) and I'm not into Sony's 1st party IPs. However, on the flip side, I love Ninty's 1st parties and Sony has the 3rd-ps I want. So I'll stick to the next Nintendo and PS.

I miss the days where Nintendo DID have awesome 3rd-party titles. Then I wouldn't even bother with any other console. But I got to get two different company's consoles to get all of what I want.

I'm debating not even buying a console next generation, but instead I might just put together a nice gaming PC, hook it up to my TV, plug a controller in, and let that be my "console".

Consoles are becoming more and more PC-like, or more accurately, PC-lite anyway. Patches, installs, texture packs, buggy and unstable games, tons of non-gaming "apps", etc. Console gamers are getting some of the headaches of being a PC gamer with none of the benefits. We're paying more for inferior versions of games.

The appeal of consoles, like Apple products, was always that they "just worked". You popped a game in and you were playing it instantly. But with consoles going in the direction of becoming more or less just PCs, only with less power and less functionality, I feel like I might as well go all the way and game on the real thing.

Meh. It's late and I'm rambling. It is something to think about though.

The Vita just came out in Japan (and its doing even worse than the 3DS did upon release), why would anyone even mention a PSV successor, likely to come out no earlier than 2017, over the PS4, likely to come out in 1-2 years?

The LA show tease will come as Wii U launch details are locked in – and should ensure no ground is lost between competing consoles.

It will mark the very first time in the show’s 17-year history that three fresh, rival console formats will be so directly comparable.*

Microsoft has long been rumoured to detail its next-gen plans at E3 2012, and recently signalled to partners this will happen, MCV has been told.

The 360 is one of the longest-serving games consoles in history. But the real surprise is an *early move from Sony. Execs at the PlayStation firm have made it clear to third-parties that they will not be left behind this time.*

Execs aren’t expecting price or launch details for the new Xbox or PlayStation. But their unveiling could be a perfect spoiler to the pre-Christmas launch date and price that will be revealed for Wii U in June.

that makes little business sense. Why does releasing the Vita first prevent interaction? It didnt stop the PSP from interacting with the PS3 and Sony is already improving with what they want to do with the Vita and its console. On a business side, companies almost always lose money on new consoles. Sony cant afford to release a handheld and home console at the same time which is why they needed to spread them apart. They also cant expect consumers to rush out and buy both machines which are at their most expensive at launch. Releasing Vita and PS4 at the same time would canibalize sales of one over the other. Few people will actually be able to afford both. Do you get the least expensive one (Vita) or the one that will have better games and support but pricier? Sony has done the right thing by releasing Vita now and PS4 later. By the time the latter launches the Vita will most likely have dropped in price and become more affordable for people who will want to potentially own both making any planned interactions more viable

PS4 to be more powerful than next Xbox?

PlayStation 4's early technical specifications are looking "more powerful" than those of Microsoft's next-generation Xbox targets, according to PSM3's development sources.

Reporting via a PS4 news special in its latest issue, which hits news stands on Wednesday, January 11, the mag cites sources suggesting that Microsoft's machine will beat Sony's to market "if only by months".
PSM3's sister mag, Xbox World, publishes a similar source-digging next-gen special in its issue out on the same day, claiming that the next Xbox will ship in late 2013 with a PowerPC-based processor from IBM and 'Kinect 2.0' out of the box.

The latter matches up with previous reports, and according to Xbox World it's one reason PS4's looking like it might outperform 360's successor in the processing department.

With its next console Microsoft is looking to focus on "utility and innovation," the report says.

The latest rumour reports arrive hours after MCV's claims that both PS4 and Xbox 720 will be shown at this year's E3.
