Our Kind Of Noms
Writing by Dave on Monday, 21 January, 2008 at 9:35 am

The Razzies were created in 1980 by a man named John Wilson, who also wrote a book called Everything I Know I Learned At The Movies. Since then, the awards ceremony has been upgraded, and usually takes place the week of – usually the night before – the actual Academy Awards.

But, like the official website says, this year when everyone is wondering if stars will show up to award ceremonies, just bank on the awards show where the stars never show up (with a few exceptions, most notably Halle Berry, who once showed up to accept Worst Actress for Catwoman).

razzies.jpg

This year is lead by Lindsay Lohan and her laughably horrible I Know Who Killed Me. We don’t want to ruin it for you, but she plays psychically connected twins that get involved in a murder plot and have weird sex, and amputated limbs…

…this one is going to take home a few Razzies, which is good, because it’s nominated 9 times. Of the nine nominations, Lindsay takes two in the Worst Actress category: one for each twin. She’s also posted in the Worst Screen Couple category with herself.

Right behind Lindsay is Eddie Murphy’s horrid Norbit which has nominations in Worst Screen Couple (Murphy and Fat Woman Murphy), Screenplay (Murphy and Charles Murphy), Director (Brian Robbins), Supporting Actor (Asian Murphy), Supporting Actress (Fat Woman Murphy), Actor (2x) (Murphy and Murphy), and Worst Picture.

Whew!

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and Daddy Day Camp also make appearances across multiple categories, but the Lohan/Murphy race seems to be the most exciting.

The Golden Raspberry Awards are scheduled at 10am/PST on Saturday, February 23 at Magicopolis in Santa Monica.

We have friends who are really anti-Norbit, so we might as well get on the anti-Lohan team. At least until later this week when the Academy Awards noms come out.

Pretty good list this year, except I don't like "Fat Woman Murphy" for supporting actress. There is likely more deserving people who are actually...well...actresses.

I want Lohan to win to further knock her down.

jessica alba should get one for anything she's been in in 2007

Are Dane Cook and Jessica Alba on this?

Awake was decent as far as the plot goes, but yes, Alba was horrible...

Can someone post the complete list?

they should have nominated halle berry again for catowman....just because it still hurts.

Can someone post the complete list?

I'm surprised Epic Movie wasn't up for worst picture.

It's silly calling Epic Movie a rip-off, it's a parody. It doesn't rip-off anything.

These nominations are even more ridiculous now that I have seen the whole list. I Know Who Killed me as worst rip-off? Just because it is violent doesn't mean it is a rip-off of Hostel or Saw. Eddie Murphy as worst supporting actress? Granted, he sucked in Norbit but to nominate him as worst actor and actress for it is ridiculous. As is a double nomination for Lohan for the same movie. Orlando Bloom's performance wasn't Oscar worthy, but it also wasn't one of the worst of the year. And no nomination for Milla Jovovich, Paul Anderson, or Resident Evil? Why? Because they aren't high profile enough. The Razzie's have essentially become "Lets see how much attention we can get by nominating high profile people instead of the worst"

No Alpha Dog, either?

Every director on that list should be black listed.

Still kind of a load. There were a lot worse movies than those nominated. The Razzies are no longer about worst movies but the highest profile movies that they can slam.
