It never really had a chance, Kirk Jones lacked badassnes and comic stoism that Blade should have, also the Mercury girl was made to be the main character. Both were bad calls. It needed humor- less obvious Canadian handicam grayness, and like a subplot where blade helps out an abused child living on the streets.

The reason Blade failed is cus Spike is cheap...and it was terrible. They did us a favor, by saying it cost to much to renew.

After watching the pilot, I was out!

Terrible just TERRIBLE

Yea....... BLADE Without Snipes just doesn't feel right.

It was a very well-written show and Jones did quite well as a replacement for Snipes. It's demise was due to being on a joke-of-a-network that only seems to like shows that center around boobs and beer. Spike TV: Television for Troglodytes. I'm still hacked off that the show ended on a cliffhanger as well.

The irony was that the show actually had a considerable female viewership.

I liked the series, I was pissed when they canceled it. That channel needs to get it's head straight.

I'm still hacked off at Spike for Blade's cancelation. It was my favorite show of the last 5 years.

The DVD collection is great, more violence AND nudity! There wasn't even nudity in the movies!

I do wish that they could have re-introduced Karen Jensen. Hell, they probably could have even gotten N'Bushe Wright! It's not like she's so bigtime that she wouldn't have done it.

I really liked the series because it got back to what was lacking from Trinity, which was showing how the vampire society functioned parallel to the human world. Yes, Blade is the main character and all, but I don't think it was wrong that they spent the time they did with Krista's story, and things like the dirty cop that got turned, etc.

the show sucked plain and simple and ended up on Spike because not even the sci-fi channel wanted it

I thought the show was good and continued getting better as it went on. The downfall was being on Spike TV.

I almost didn't keep watching after the pilot. It wasn't great, but it was just enough for me to give it a chance.

After a couple more episodes where Jones started getting a feel for being Blade, it improved noticeably. By the end, it had come along nicely and to the point where I didn't want it canceled.

The pilot wasn't great but the show picked up steam as the season went on. It should have had another 2 seasons easily. Spike's promotion of the show was pitiful.

i agree. Spike didnt handle the show as well as they could have. that is why the show failed. yeah, by the end Jones had a feeling for Blade. he seemed to have gotten more comfortable with the character. everyone by the end was comfortable with their character. which is why when the cliff hanger happened it just blew back up in Spike TV's face.

I might check the series DVD from Netflix.

it failed for the same reason blade trinity failed, blade was a co star in his own show. here's a clue, the show is called 'BLADE' and that's who I want to watch.

I think when you're dealing with two separate mediums, you can get away with splitting focus between multiple characters in a situation like a television series. Making Blade a secondary character in that one film is different than Blade sharing the spotlight with another character over the course of a series.

It got good. I think they did a good job of even making Blade into this almost hard boiled detective tracking down Vampire snitches.

I think if they could have gotten someone better for Blade, it might have helped from the get go. Maybe just someone with better acting chops. But, it got pretty good and I thought it deserved a renewal.

Had it been on another network, it probably would have too. SPIKE...is...I mean, c'mon. It's SPIKE.

Maybe it came too soon with people only wanted to see Wesley Snipes as Blade. That's the reason I never watched it because I was thinking a fourth movie would have come out by now. There was a fourth in development but it fell apart .

New Line was hoping for a Nightstalkers spin-off, I know that much. I don't know how far they got beyond talking about a fourth Blade film, though. For one, there was clearly a falling out between Goyer and Snipes while Trinity was being filmed, and nothing seemed resolved by the time the movie was released.

The biggest problem with the Blade tv show is that it stars Blade. How boring a character can you possibly use for a television show? On top of that they cast the most ghetto guy they could find. It's no wonder they had to create a much more appeal character to make the show more interesting.
