No Way Home The Road To No Way Home: The Previous Spider-Man Movies Rewatch Thread

It's a good way to prepare themselves and understand the previous Spider-Men's backstories.

I rewatched Spider-Man 3 some time ago. I still like it but it has some many problems. Only thing that was really well done was Harry's storyline. He was given most time and James Franco is great in the role. I liked the memory loss so we could really see the friendship between him and Peter. I'm not sure if like the happy Peter when Spider-Man is popular. Sandman could have been a great character but many of his scenes were cut and I don't like that Uncle Ben retcon. One of my biggest problems with the movie is that they don't show the black suit much. They could have at least added some short action clips in that montage scene. Those photos Peter tried to sell to Jameson would have been a cool action scene.

They should release a new director's cut that has all the cut Sandman scenes.

I don't think that's ever happening really. Best we'll ever have is the Editor's Cut.

I rewatch the Raimi trilogy multiple times a year honestly. They're such comforting movies, and with the semi over saturation comic book movies that feel the same a lot of the time, they're such a fantastic reminder of why I still hold them in such high regard. TDK trilogy and the Raimi trilogy are still my favorite superhero films.

Now would be the perfect time for Sony to make more money with the old movies. Of course Raimi might not want to do it.

Didn't stop them with the Editor's Cut nor Spider-Man 2.1 though.

I love these shots.

One thing about SM3 that's always stuck out to me is that the movie is very inconsistent about whether or not Sandman can feel pain. In Spidey's first fight with him his punches do absolutely nothing but in their second battle Sandman is clearly grunting in pain whenever Spidey hits him. Kinda puzzling.

Not really. Just figured it was obvious that the symbiote increased Spider-Man's power and strength that much. Couple that with the fact that in the first fight Peter didn't know Marko was the man responsible for killing Ben, he wasn't holding back this time around and was clearly trying to murder him right there and there.

I got a baby so wife and I will start watching them soon. We will be doing

Spider-Man
Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 3
The Amazing Spider-Man
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Captain America: Civil War
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Endgame
Spider-Man: Far From Home
I just did that myself. I will do it again when the movie getting closer.

You're right about the symbiote increasing Spidey's power, but I think Sandman defeating him so easily in their first encounter had less to do with Spidey holding back and more to do with Sandman's invulnerability in that scene. Spidey having the symbiote during the subway fight was likely what allowed him to actually hurt Sandman. And then when he's back to the red-and-blues during the final battle he's once again completely outclassed by Sandman.

Little thing I picked up on in SM3: Dr. Connors saying "I'm a physicist, not a biologist" directly contradicts his lizard-based studies. If Raimi ever planned on bringing in the Lizard it would mean he suddenly changed careers lol.

Or he would've just been pretty out of his depth! :liz:

The films except SM2 were put on Netflix in the UK. So Spider-man, Spider-man 3, The Amazing Spider-man, The Amazing Spider-man 2, Spider-man: Homecoming and Spider-man: Far From Home

A moment in Homecoming I thought was odd: While he's scaling the Washington Monument, Peter mentions that he's never been up that high before. Did he somehow forget Vulture hauling him up like 20,000 feet in the air and then dropping him?

After the fight with Montana? No way were they 20,000 feet in the air.

EDIT upon rewatching that scene, you might be right lol. Maybe he meant more climbing on his own free will.

I recently re-watched it as well. Harry showing up to help Peter before Sandman gives him the final blow was the "Thor Wakanda entrance". Still gives me goosebumps. And one thing I realized, Raimi made the pumpkin bombs iconic in the trilogy. They show up in every movie so when the bomb lodges into Sandman, we knew what was up. That's probably why millions of fans lost their **** when they saw it in the NWH trailer.

That always annoyed me, too. Even in SM-2 I was wondering why Connors was teaching Peter Physics. I was guessing he was such a great Scientist that he was specializing in both Physics and Biology.

Watched amazing spiderman 2 tonight still dont get the hate at all its a love story that is the story there is not a million things going on like everyone says there is and the soundtrack is so good and the electro fight is amazing.

Just marathoned the Raimi trilogy, and the Webb Duology.

Some thoughts on both.

The Raimi trilogy is ALMOST perfection. Sure, part 3 has it's short comings and head scratchers, but it still had me fixated on the tv, smiling from ear to ear. One of my favorite trilogies of all time.

As for the Webb movies... I love part 1! It has some slow moments in the beginning, and his suit is an eye sore, but besides that it's great. Part 2, as a whole, is pretty terrible. BUT, Garfield as Spidey is perfect! His quips, his body language, his swinging, all perfect! I'm honestly now more excited to have Garfield back, than Tobey.

So, I was rewatching Raimi's original film, which is a classic, but I noticed something weird. My digital copy on AppleTV changed some of the sound mixing for the pumpkin bomb Goblin uses on Peter in the final battle. Instead of being silent until bounces and is about to explode, it makes this kind of whooshing sound and then they revamped the explosion sound.

It's so strange. If I stream if everywhere else I get the original mixing, but it has to have been a recent update because I've never noticed the countless of other times I've watched it. I hope it's not something they're doing with the new 4K release because it sounds terrible.

Aw man, really? That's weird. I have the sound of that pumpkin bomb going off in the final battle burned into my brain, it's some really cool sound mixing.

Yeah, it's so strange. It was kind of like a rocket whirling. I just went back to try and see if I could record the sound, but it's back to normal. I'm not sure what happened there.

If I hadn't been rewinding and cycling between different services I'd chalk it up to me it's hearing something random, but pumpkin bomb is such a distinct sound that I had to go back and check multiple times to make sure I wasn't going crazy. :funny:

Either way that movie still rocks and reigns supreme.
