The score was pretty forgettable, imo. It wasn't intrusive or anything, but there weren't any memorable cues.
Point out the memorable musical cues in the scores to Slumdog Millionaire, Atonement, Babel, Brokeback Mountain, or Finding Neverland. IMO the last Oscar winning score that deserved to win was Return of the King. Howard Shore was brilliant.
To put it in perspective, the Indiana Jones score was nominated 3 times and never won. Pirates of the Caribbean was not even nominated, despite the fact that it is extremely memorable with a number of cues that are instantly recognizable.
I hope this nails the point home.
