''A million of that money is just to ensure the Rock promotes his own movie on his own Instagram. Per Variety: “Want access to Johnson’s 104 million Instagram followers? It’s going to cost you. The Rampage star is asking for a $1 million social-media fee as part of his package for the upcoming Red Notice; that includes promoting the film on the likes of Twitter and Facebook.” A respectable hustle!''

Gal Gadot has closed a deal to star opposite Dwayne Johnson in Red Notice, the action comedy which Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing from his original script. Universal Pictures won a heated multi-studio bidding battle in February that ended with a green light commitment in the biggest package deal so far this year. Red Notice will begin shooting April 2019 in Europe and Universal will release the film worldwide June 12, 2020. Thurber flew to London for less than 30 hours just to pitch Gadot in person for the role.

The film’s log line is being kept under wraps, but it is described as a globe-trotting, action-comedy, heist thriller designed as a three-hander between Johnson, Gadot and another male star who’ll soon be set. Gadot plays a brilliant and mysterious figure in the art world.

Ha, this is gonna be nuts. I'm sure the third actor will be some comedian.

Then it'll hafta be Kevin Hart. Him & The Rock are great together. They had excellent chemistry in both Central Intelligence and Jumanji 2.

The Rock is one of my favourite people to watch on the big screen now so it’s all good. Not sure why the Skyscraper crew are in such demand when that film didn’t exactly do amazingly well.

DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story (directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber and he wrote the screenplay as well), We're The Millers (directed by RMT) & Central Intelligence (written & directed by RMT, also has The Rock connection) were all monster hits and all 3 of them were original movies from major studios.

Haven’t seen the others but I LOVE Dodgeball!

Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Red Notice’ Pushed Back Five Months

Universal Studios has pushed back Dwayne Johnson’s “Red Notice” five months from June 12, 2020, to Nov. 13, 2020. The studio made the announcement Thursday. Johnson reteams with his “Skyscraper” and “Central Intelligence” writer/director Rawson Marshall Thurber and plays an Interpol agent tasked with capturing the most-wanted art thief in the world.

The funny thing is I literally just read an article an hour back about how Netflix will focus more on lower budget films as the big budget ones have been failing (like Triple Frontier). Granted, I think this has WAY MORE appeal than Triple Frontier.

So this is just going to be on Netflix rather than on the big screen? They didn't deem it worthy enough to be on there?

The only studio that can afford possible tepid releases are Disney and Netflix. Everybody else can't afford the hit.

Idk. For me, There is still something odd about a straight to streaming release for a film that is supposed to be highly budgeted. Maybe I'm old school, but I prefer seeing a huge film in a cinema first with a crowded audience and seeing all the marketing stuff outside of the internet than a new film that can easily wait online, whenever I have nothing else to do or watch.

Also I rarely see Netflix promotions in public places like the mall/buildings and a trailer being shown inside the cinema.

I had seriously been wondering recently whatever happened to this project. I thought it had been quietly shelved. But, speaking only for myself, going from a theatrical release from Universal to a Netflix original seems like such a major downgrade.
