'Red' Filmmaker To Direct Ryan Reynolds In 'R.I.P.D.' Adaptation.

Still seeing it this week. Technically next week. Some time. But, my thoughts on it won't mean a lot since - like RDJ has said - I basically like everything, give me one thing that entertains me and I'll like it. I'm easy that way.

37 isn't old and make up and good lighting does wonders. Almost every actor has work done so that helps too. If my job was being in front of a camera I'd have work done as well.
age wont matter for deadpool since deadpool has a disfigured face and wears a mask lol

I don't think a studio is going to sink a 80-120mil into an R or even PG:13 rated meta Superhero movie starring an actor who is two bombs away from getting his own quirky Lawyer show on USA network.

I see the whole Deadpool thing as some carrot Reynolds is dangling in front of nerds to keep some sort of geek street cred. I'm sorry but I barely see Deadpool happening let alone starring Ryan Reynolds.

The gig is up now, he is a failed franchise ****e for lack of a nicer term. Of course he is going to push for a Deadpool franchise, all he does is push for franchises and the studio is going to lie and say that they are right on it but I have seen very little proof that they are right on it.

His age isn't the problem but the fact that he has become a joke in the industry is.

And oh yeah, the official estimate for R.I.P.D Friday is a dismal 4.8mil.

The more I see of this movie, the more I want to avoid it at all costs.

Reynolds is alright, he just doesn't have much luck when it comes to picking movies...well, either that or he knows how awful they are going to be and goes with it anyway.

It would be too easy to make a joke about RIPD's BO with it's title.

Ouch. It's opening at #6 this weekend. And will probably even lose more theaters next weekend.

I think by "of the year" I'm pretty sure "so far" is implied. Why are you guys so literal minded?

There's nothing wrong with being literal. That's why I make a point to say 'to date' when I'm discussing films. It's not a matter of being literal, it's being clear. So the real question is "why do people bother to be so vague?" If it's clear, then the risk of misunderstanding isn't there.

It looks terrible , but I doubt Reynolds will take the hit for this.

I find it interesting that Reynolds and Mary Lousie Parker are both competing against themselves at the box office (Turbo and Red 2)

Of course Reynolds is going to take the hit for this (maybe not as much as Green Lantern because the studio clearly dumped it), he has been hyped up as the next big thing for years and mostly fails to live up to that hype. There are already articles up about his career and we don't even have an official weekend estimate. Bridges is the one who isn't going to take a hit because he is a great well respected actor that has been in the business for decades.

Turbo is going to have one of the lowest openings in Dreamworks history.

I don't blame him or give him credit for Animated films. Kids don't care who voices over their characters. The Croods would have been a hit without him and Turbo would have been a disappointment without him.

Of course, there is no way anyone can possibly blame that underperformance on Reynolds, but it's still unfortunate when two films you are in have poor box office reception. Blake Lively is comforting him tonight.

Lucky dog.

Ryan Reynolds is possibly my least favorite male actor. Plus, this movie sounded like a bad idea when it was greenlit, and the trailers looked awful. I'm thrilled that it is such a colossal failure. Hollywood is going to have to start doing better if they want to avoid losing lots of money.

I wish this film was more of a crime noir film that I expected it'd be.

The budgets have just gotten way out of control. Hollywood studios made their beds when they started giving any and every niche idea 150-200mil. I know R.I.P.D went over budget (rumored to have cost over 180mil) but it's original budget was 130mil so it was never a medium budget film. This should have been a smaller film that cost 70-85mil at best but for some reason it just had to cost well over 100mil.

I liked White House Down but it's 150mil budget is outrageous, it had a ton of pointless visual effects they could have did without.

The Lone Ranger should have never been made but I understand why Disney let Depp and Verbinski make it. Disney should have never allowed the budget to get over 150mil because there is no market for fantasy Westerns.

There was no way to lower the budget on Pacific Rim, it needed that 180mil plus so it's a disappointment for other reasons outside of it's budget.

Turbo
is underperforming as well. What a crappy weekend for Ryan Reynolds.

Really? I guess that one won't really hurt too much since people don't really go to those types of films based on who's in it.

And I just read something that Johansson supposedly said about him too. It wasn't nice.

Lone Ranger is a movie that I SHOULD have been interested in. True story: My dad owns one of the largest collections of cowboy memorabilia on earth. The actual saddles, guns etc used in the classic movies. Growing up, Roy Rogers, Lash Larue, Gabby Hayes, Gene Autry and other classic cowboys were a constant in my life (my dad knew them ALL). I remember meeting Clayton Moore (the original Lone Ranger) and being in total awe, as that was my favorite character at the time. HOWEVER, I have no intention of seeing this movie. It never felt like a Lone Ranger movie that I would want to see for nostalgic reasons, nor one that was updating the concept the way the comics have done. If they can't make ME want to see this, then who in the hell DID see it?

Wasn't part of the reason why R.I.P.D. budget increased because of Rhythm and Hues Studios bankruptcy.

Wait, you're telling me kids don't care that Green Lantern is voicing a snail?

Kids LOVE Green Lantern and snails!
