The Rocketeer reboot

I hope they don't overdo cgi, though. I feel like more practical effects would add to the charm of the movie.
i admit that in the last 10 years we saw some bad cgi. so bad that you could throw up. but come on. when they do good CGI when it looks realistic it can make flying look fantastic,amazing,.......

I agree, they should go the way of Xmen First Class flying. I think that has looked the most real for a person flying in a movie.

Leave Joe Johnston's movie alone.

I love the original, it has a real charm to it, but the potential for a new Rocketeer movie with today's technology is pretty cool IMO.

I've been thinking of rewatching this flick, since I can't seem to remember much of it. But the comic back in the 80s was really cool.

Like mentioned above, I also think the movie disappeared behind the impact of T2 at the time. Well, I think I have to see it again to really decide if a remake is a good or bad idea.

^ and Jennifer Connelly looking incredibly beautiful
This I remember though. :)

She also looked very voluptuous.:hrt: I wish she still looked the way she did back then.
Agree!

I don't have Joe Johnston on my all time favourite directors list, but The Rocketeer and October Sky are two of my favourite movies. While I would love to see another Rocketeer movie... I think the first one holds up quite nicely.

Haven't seen it in so long. Not really sure how I feel about the reboot. I'll decide in 2 hours. I just pressed play. ;)

Oh man. I LOVE The Rocketeer.

Everything about that movie was a homerun for me. Its pulpy, the music, the visuals especially the flying ones. Those were very cool at the time.

I really hope it does get made, however I dont think it would do so well in the box office. But who cares? Its the Rocketeer.

As a fat sweaty nerd, any updates or reboots is doing something to the previous movie by association. :o

Did kids back then even know what The Rocketeer was? I had never heard of him until the movie.

Saw the news a few days ago disney wanting to do another/new rocketeer film. If they get a good cast/crew on it could be good. Enjoyed the original so curious to see what they do. And def love to see some folks from original do a cameo.

Alan Arkin could easily step back into his role

But we've seen a man fly with a rocket pack more or less (Iron Man). They shouldn't sell this movie on FX, but story. I don't know how much spectactle they can really give since I'm assuming it's set in the 40s.

I think the concept of reboot in itself needs rebooting, it's becoming laughable the amount of lets say rehash's keep coming out.

Robert Downey Jr. for the Rocketeer. :o

And the original was boring, I couldn't even get through all of it. Hope this new one injects some fun into the movie.

The Original wasn't a good film and should be the type of film that is remade. I found it to be perfectly average in everyway so remake away...as long as they get a decent screenwriter and director. If they can't get some decent folk together they shouldn't remake it.

Aka Joe Johnston.

Just watched the film for the first time, while it wasn't a masterpiece it had a lot of charm, i never read the comics but they better have an origin different enough from the first film, or else there's not much you can do with a reboot

Bad films with good ideas are actually what should be remade, not good films that properly executed their ideas the first time.

Dont get excited I haven't any news.

I was just thinking I would like to see a remake. I love the original but I would also love to see a quality remake with todays tech.

It would be hard to replace Billy Campbell but I think Dan Stevens would possibly make a great Cliff/Rocketeer.

Found this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEDif9aAlkc
