Kristen Stewart is set to portray Joan Jett in "The Runaways," the rock 'n' roll biopic of the 1970s all-girl band.

Video director Floria Sigismondi wrote the screenplay and is directing, while John and Art Linson and River Road Entertainment's Bill Pohlad are producing. Jett will act as an executive producer.

To give you guys a better idea of how Jett was back in the day (and still is) here's a few clips (thanks to aint it cool news). She had spunk, she was hot, and was damn sassy.

Personally I think Lizzy Caplan would have a been a better choice, espcally with her sexy Cloverfield look.

I'm an "assistant" (aka coffee-getter) for this movie, working for the EP's Jett and Laguna. For the Stewart doubters out there: I was never a big fan of hers but Jett was the one that reached out to her and cast her. She thought she was perfect and blew her away in the audition. This is an independent production so I'm not sure how much exposure it will get, but when the main character's real-life counter-part is this heavily involved, it should at the very least be accurate.
