The Runaways

I was confused by the casting of Dakota at first, but with each new pics of her on set I can see it working. These new pics really sell me though.

Hmm, I like KS there, she looks pretty turned on.

Fanning looks older, too, very young Goldie Hawn-ish.

Oh yea, she does have a Goldie Hawn quality to her look.

I hope they get into some of the pretty rowdy stories involving Lita Ford in this movie. She was apparently pretty rough back then, especially on Cherie.

Eh. Has the usual music bio movie foreshadowing drivel I see.

I still would like to see the full trailer though.

I don't really get how The Runaway's could "tear the world apart". That's a bit too dramatic. It's not like they were groundbreaking like Michael Jackson or Bob Dylan.

to be fair, that line is coming from their manager kim fowley, who grossly exaggerated the band when talking them up in order to make more money. though, i heard the film itself if sort of guilty of the same thing. most reports of the film also indicate its pretty mediocre movie.

Personally I think they should have made the movie focusing solely on Joan Jett since from what I've learned ever since I got into rock when I was younger, it seemed Joan had the bigger career and was widely known more than The Runaways.

well, apparently the film focuses heavily/mainly on joan and cherie. joan went on to have the biggest career of the group. but if they're making a film about the runaways, then make it about the runaways. not just the most popular runaway.

I would have preferred Ellen Page to play Joan Jett.

Well that's why I was saying they should have just made a film on Joan Jett. Maybe I didn't word my initial post right.

I don't hate Ellen Page but that would be flat out horrible casting. Kristen Stewart may not be the perfect choice but she still is a damn good one, especially after seeing what she looks like in the film. Not to mention Joan Jett herself, wanted Stewart to play her.

So barely nothing about Lita? Who from what I've read was the one girl in the group everyone had a problem with.

I read two reviews that say they downplay her as just being a stuck up *****. The film focuses primarily on Fanning and Stewart.

To each their own. Ellen Page would bring a slightly crazed, rebellious youth, not to mention the lesbian tendencies to the role.

Stewart brings a reserved, shy, lip bitingly awkward performance to every role Ive seen her in. That aint Joan Jett IMO.

Like Figs said, Joan Jett doesn't share your opinion, she thinks Kristen Stewart is perfect. You can't argue with that.

I can argue that joan jett doesnt know a thing about acting and probably based her opinion off of "Twilight is popular...that chick from twilight would make me look hot" and BAM, a casting decision was made.

From an acting talent perspective, and the perspective of who would be more comfortable in the role, there is no contest. I'll take the probably lesbian actress from the Tracey Fragments and Hard Candy over the emo chick from Twilight any day for the role of the rebellious, out of control young lesbian.

i think Stewart has enough acting experience for this role. if the script and direction is good is another question.

Then again...Im bummed that Scout isnt still in the film because I think she's cute...so my standards on acting talent tend to vary...
