And just because I'm not paranoid doesn't mean I'm not being watched by alien lizard overlords in leisure suites drinking pina colodas.

Write the joke and PM it to me so you don't get banned. But only if it's funny. I've little time for bad lulz unless I create them.

Just because there are no source doesn't mean they are untrue.

And Rickles and McFarlane work in the field of comedy. There is a difference between having wit and writing satire, it's another to say things for shock value and call is a joke.

I'm so temped to write a tactless "joke" just to prove my point, but I'll bit my fingers.

A pet peeve of mine is when people write off other people by saying they "need to get a sense of humor"......which totally ignores the fact the not everyone has the exact same sense of humor....the simple fact that Dane Cook is successful proves that.

Pardon the interjection but I just read the page and just wanted to say stormnormin was right in everything he said and also that Rush didnt start getting defended by the use of the word "entertainer" until after liberals kept defending alfranken with that word. Now they piss and moan when Rush uses that excuse. BWaaHahaha

Almost as much as I despise the lag that has kept me from reading and responding to your retort I despise the "wall of text" and refuse to read it here, there, and everywhere but I'm usually passive in my resistance and don't take people to task.

Well I think its a bit unfair to criticize me from using walls of text, but when someone on this thread does it, no one comments on it. Its a bit annoying.

But, to the matter at hand, did you read what was verified and what was not? All the tired old garbage - the truly racist and horrible things that come up again and again - are just that: garbage with no legitamate source. I would only classify two of the remaining verified "racist" remarks as in fact being racists and those were made on some non-political show he had years ago to which I can frame no context. For all I know it could have been he was a Don Rickles type on that show insulting everyone with every stereotype. Does that make the statements not racist? No, but no one seems to have a problem with racist jokes told by the likes of Rickles or Seth McFarlane. On a side note, if Limbaugh did have a show like that, I can only imagine it to be a colossal failure (in spite of what conclusion you may draw from reading this I'm not a ditto head).

One are you really comparing Rush to Seth Macfarlane, that's pretty silly. Rush presents his show as public discourse, only an idiot would think Family Guy is public discourse. The difference between Rush and frigging cartoon, Rush demands to be taken seriously and is far more mean spirited then some silly cartoon.

Two if you read the Snopes entry on this, they site exactly when Rush said the quotes that are actually true, some of them going back as early as 2007. Do you realize what Snopes, its a fact checking site and they did debunk some of those quotes, but they did confirm others. Exactly how are the quotes conformed by the Snopes site, not racist? Especially when some of them were said as late as 2007, on his show.

How was telling a black woman to quote "Take the bone out of your nose and call me back later" not racist. Because Snopes confirmed that one.

If Rush is not a racist, he is at least a race baiter.

Well, I agree. Have you ever seen those 9/11 sandcastles? Obviously, some thinks that is funny. I used to listen to Howard Stern. I can laugh at dead baby jokes and holocaust jokes. Humor is obviously subjective. But, I still there there is a line between actual wit and shock humor.

Well, Al Franken was an entertainer. What did Rush call himself before he became an "entertainer".

I dont think Rush is an entertainer but the word is sometimes used in his defense because if its good enough for franken, its good enough for rush. I remember when rush first talked about it. He himself framed it as a joke because that was when franken was being called that in defense of some outlandish things he said. So when someone criticises something rush said, he would joke and say he was just entertaining. Strangely though the same ones who defended franken didnt accept that excuse.

Lets get real, just because franken was on snl doesnt mean what he says can be excused as satire. Everything he wrote in his book and says on his radio show or anything else ARE his political views and can be critiqued accordingly.......as with Rush

So if you are agreeing with everything Norm said, would you agree with him that Rush is an entertainer and thus should his show should not be treated as public discourse?

How is rush not an entertainer? Is he an expert about gov., politics or world relations? Does he have some degree or something? Military or political service?

He's a college drop out that became a radio disc jockey that eventually translated to political shows. But he's always been an entertainer, that's why he gets paid because people either enjoy what he says or hates it enough to bother listening too (either way works actually).

Franken, rush, moore and all those other *****ebags are just entertainers nothing more, not experts and their opinions shouldn't be considered as anything more than that of you or I.

Ummmm did you read the snopes article or my post?

I am quite familiar with Snopes. I have used it frequently to refute ridiculous emails that lazy people send me. And I did see which statements they verified and which they refuted. And in reading them, there were a few that were blatantly racist. Of these only two were verified. And these were from a show that was NOT, I repeat NOT, the format if the show he has now; i.e. public discourse.

The others that Snopes verified are not in my opinion racist statements. If you go there looking for racism with the belief the yo-yo dieting blowhard is racist, then you'll probably think they are, and I understand that point of view. Our society makes it too easy to hate those that don't agree with you. Personally I have no strong feelings for the man either way, but I'm not easily offended, and I think the race card gets played way to often so I probably read these statements a lot differently.

As for my comparison, I am not saying that Rush now is the same as McFarlane (hack) or Rickles (legend). I was stating I have no context for the type of show he was doing, or what type of radio personality he was using, when he made some of the comments which are admittedly true and seemingly racist. It could very well be that insulting via stereotype was his schtick. If that is the case, and you are unwilling to castigate other performers for similar behavior, then you are a hypocrite. That was my point. Conversely if it was not like that, and he just made an insulting comment like that then I can't and won't defend it.

And one final thing. I reserve the right to criticism you for a wall of broken text. BUT to make it even, I give you permission to call me fat. :woot:

This so ridiculous. Anyone with an IQ below, what 70 I think it is, is classified as ******ed. That's like coming out and saying don't call me obese I have a gland problem that make me weigh 700 lbs. Society will continue to degenerate as long as this mollycoddling continues.

It's like midgets claiming that the word "midget" is just like saying "n****r"

You know why ******ed is bad? Cause mentally handicapped people say it's bad.
Do you know why midget is bad? Because Little People say it's bad.
Do you know why ****** is bad? Because African Americans say it's bad.

Just respect their opinion and don't say it. Pretty easy. It's called respect.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

I'm not one for political correctness...but I do expect a level of professionalism in the white house. I work in the music business, and I would never call someone or something ******ed at work, because the person I'm talking to may be close to someone who is ******ed and it could hurt their feelings and I could lose money or a business associate. I could go home and make fun of ******ed people all day...maybe I do, maybe I dont...but in a professional setting I cant imagine saying that unless I was completely comfortable around and knew the personal lives pf everyone in the room. If I can hold myself to that level of courtesy, then I can hold the people in the white house at that level.

The only one I won't use is the n-word. Because it's the only one that will result in getting my ass kicked if I say it in town.

Midget will get me a kick in the shins, and ****** will get me a blank stare, and a scowl/lecture from the caretaker.

Good point vis a vis professionalism and decorum - both traits Rush Limbaugh and Rahm Emmannuel are lauded for (hahahahahaha). And I would tend agree with your assessment of proper conduct from high office. Unless he was of course explicitly referring to a ******ed person - in which case I really don't have a problem with the term being used as a descriptor. Same with a midget, of course little person might be safer because your average person would probably have a issues classifying midget from dwarf, etc. Then again consider Carol-len and Carol-eye-n, both spelled Caroline. What's the model of couth to do?

Sarah says that it's okay for Rush to use the word ******ed but not Rahm.

I guess it's kinda like it's okay for black people to use the "N" word.

Then liberals should begin to embrace her as she seems to have embraced moral relativism.:awesome:
