The Rush Limbaugh Thread

The biggest problem I see is that the Republican concept of "less government" is ********.

If you believe in less government...in keeping the damn governement out of MY affairs...then why do they want to ban gay marriage? why do they want to ban abortion? Those seem like MAJOR government intervention issues that the supposed party of "less government" wants more government control.

Having things like the patriot act and being able to arrest people for no reason as if they were the Galatic Empire over the past few years only hurts more.

There's definitely a lot of hypocrisy in the Republican Party on the issue of small government vs. big government. One of the best examples of this that I've seen recently is Sarah Palin admitting that she CHOSE not to have an abortion of her developmentally disabled son, but at the same time she wants to ban the right to choose for every other woman in America. The whole idea of choosing is based on the government not telling women what to do, whether it be choosing to have an abortion or choosing not to have an abortion. Governor Palin exercised her right to not have an abortion and I think she should respect the right of other women to have an abortion if they feel it's necessary.

I tend to be a Libertarian all the way around. I don't want the government spying on how much carbon I put out in the interest of "stopping global warming" (which is what Obama is proposing), I don't want the government shutting down the Internet due to "national security" (another Obama proposal), I don't want the government spying on me in the interest of "national security" (Bush wiretapping program), and on and on.

And why are you in government in the first place if you hate government? lol

LIMBAUGH TO POWELL: 'BECOME A DEMOCRAT'
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/05/07/limbaugh-to-powell-become-a-democrat-2/

Rush Limbaugh fired back at Colin Powell for his critical comments earlier this week, saying Wednesday that the former secretary of state should join the Democratic Party.

"What Colin Powell needs to do is close the loop and become a Democrat instead of claiming to be a Republican interested in reforming the Republican Party," Limbaugh said on his radio show Wednesday.

Limbaugh also took aim at Powell's decision to endorse President Obama over John McCain during the presidential election, repeating his earlier sentiment that Powell's move was "solely based on race."

"He's just mad at me because I'm the one person in the country who had the guts to explain his endorsement of Obama," Limbaugh said. "It was purely and solely based on race."

During a speech on Monday, Powell said the "the Republican Party is in deep trouble" and said the GOP would be better off without Limbaugh, according to a report by the National Journal.

"I think what Rush does as an entertainer diminishes the party and intrudes or inserts into our public life a kind of nastiness that we would be better to do without," Powell said.

When "person A" decides to endorse a particular candidate and explains why, I'll take their word over what "person B" says about why person A gave the endorsement.

Because, you have to limit it from the inside.
And in another world, that could work. In the real world, when someone gets power, they're not going to give it up without a fight.

That Fight is called "an Election". In the real world. Fo Realz.

And even after the circus people call an election, they're still not going to give power, even if that was a "promise"

Is anyone else worried about the control Boss Limbaugh has?

I mean, in all seriousness...the man has actual control over the Republican party. It's kinda incredible when you see how it works.

Cantor mentioned before that they were on a listening tour across America. Suddenly, the Big Boss doesn't dig that and wants a teaching tour...and 48 hours later Cantor denies it being a listening tour?

It seems as if Limbaugh says jump, and the Republican party politicians ask "how high?"

Limbaugh doesn't have Control over the Republican Party. He has influence over the Conservative Base. They are two seperate things.

But right now, the conservative party IS the Republican party.

So, yes. He controls the Republican party.

When he's got Republican politicians begging for forgiveness on his radio show, that's something to take note of.

You are sorta contradicting yourself.

You said the conservative party is the Republican party then you say that Republicans are apologizing to Rush on his show. Why would they be apologizing? Because they left the Conservative core behind?

Or maybe I'm missing something.

i could be wrong but i think he's referring to when Michael Steele apologized to Rush because Rush got offended by something Steele said.

Limbaugh and people like him are damaging the Republican Party. People need to stop apologizing for comments against Rush. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - the first person who criticizes Rush and doesn't apologize will be the influential voice in the GOP.

Rush Limbaugh is a jacka** that can go **** himself

Does this mean I'm now the influential voice in the GOP?

Are you a prominent political figure on the national stage?

Influence on Rush's level is control.

Colin Powell looks like he might be that person IMO.

I don't think most people know the difference.
