This guy is currently celebrating 40 years in the business. There's no doubt the impact he has had on Spider-Man. Show him some love.

Sal always has and always will be an amazing artist. I've loved his art ever since the first time I saw it, so, thank you, Sal, for bringing another batch of amazing art to the Spidey universe and Marvel universe in general. :spidey::up:

Sal draws one of the scariest versions of the Green Goblin EVER!

Aloha,
Funny you should bring up Sal B. I'm in the process of upgrading all of my cover scans on my web site(I know,I'm a masochist). I'm up to PPSSM and of course, I've been looking at ALL of Sals artwork for the past few days. I always felt he had his own style that really worked well with Spidey. Best wishes Mr. B. Here's to 40 more years(we wish).

I was never a big fan, BUT that's probably because the guy has such a distinctive style like Bagley or JRJr. He is undeniably talented. He drew this guy too, right? :bh:

That is a great cover. But the interiors of that issue is what makes that a really special book. Buscema is the top notch Spider-Man artist. He is, without a doubt, up there with the greats like the Romita's, Bagley, Ditko, and Kane. Great stuff and it was always a treat when he would do some fill in work on Spider-Girl

I second that.

Sal is easily one of my top 5 spidey artists. I don't think what I linked below is his best stuff, but I'm a sucker for Gwen Stacy and her go-go boots. Also, I love Spidey's reaction. Who among us hasn't been visited by an old girl-friend and reacted the same way?

He's the one who drew the death of Harry story right? I have the Son of the Goblin trade and I really like his art in it

I hated his art.....but like you said, you still gotta give him respect because of his unique style and his longevity in the business.

HIs art was always of high quality, even though it didn't appeal to me....if that makes sense.

It's rather strange, when I was younger I really hated his art, but like the writing on his nonetheless. (Pretty weird as when was a kid I only really got the art.) Especially with JMD

As I had gotten older, almost on a year by year basis I really started to understand the appeal and true uniqeness of his art.

He consistently updated his art style, and almost had a European '2000AD,' quality to his art over time.

More than anything, he TRULY knows how to be a great storyteller... probably why I enjoyed him as a young'n, even though I wasn't a fan of his style back then...

Especially when she's dead! :oldrazz:

The Sal Buscema and JM DeMatteis were my favourite team back in the 90s. I always have great appreciation for Mr Buscema's facial expressions. They are the best around.

i love Buscema's art! He ranks in my top 5 for sure. I collect TSSM just because he drew it and the way he draws Spidey is probably my 3rd fav.

Favorite Spider-Man Artists
1. John Romita
2. Mark Bagely
3. Sal Buscema
4. Marcos Martin (he's doing some amazing work)
5. Gil Kane
