The Simpsons Movie 2

It's about time! I've wanted a Simpsons Movie sequel for ages.

I wonder what the plot will be? I can't see Springfield being under threat again. Could they make it a Treehouse of Horror-inspired film perhaps?

Not sure if it will be as popular as the first. The show doesn’t have the cache it used to.

It didn't when the first movie came out either.

I grew up loving this - i saw an episode around 2010 and didn't recognize it.. it has definitely lost its heart... majority of the time.

I haven't watched in years so i couldn't say what it's like now, however i feel they need to tone it down - focus on the family being a family.

I love the tree house idea - that be cool.

oh god!! I hope not.

The 1st one didn't have half the harm of the 'golden age' episodes. This one would be even more detatched.

Leave it's legacy as a successful TV series.

Or you just know, don't watch it if you already think it is going to be bad. Funny how often that is said but never heard and people go watch something they already think is bad, decide it is bad, then come in and complain how bad it was because they had no other recourse but to watch something they knew was going to be bad. Or you can skip that and just not watch it. :D

The show has been terrible for the last 18 years now. How much damage can this sequel do that has not already been done to the show's rep?

Yeah, the show's been on the skids for almost 20 years now but I will admit that the first movie was probably the best thing to come out of it after the 10th season since they brought back a lot of the writers from the golden age of the show. I have to imagine they'll do the same here but I'd also like to see them treat another movie as a finale. The only reason why the show hasn't ended yet is because they all love getting paid, but I don't see where the revenue is coming from since there isn't exactly a plethora of Simpsons merchandise these days and the viewership keeps dipping every season. The actress who plays Marge is pushing 70, and you can tell if you watch a current episode. It's insane to me how the show is still on the air. Family Guy too. The only one that can get away with it is South Park since it relies on current events for plotlines but even the last two seasons of that haven't been up to par for the most part.

Still hoping for a live actions Simpsons one day...

That could be potentially horrifying. :o

Ehhh. I wasn't really a fan of the first one, so I'm not that excited about this.. Making it a 'Treehouse of Horror' anthology does sound interesting though!

That's probably pretty accurate as far as a live action version.

I've caught some of the more recent episodes lately, and I don't know if I'd necessarily call them terrible. More like... aggressively mediocre, especially compared to its 1990s brilliance.

If the Disney thing goes through, will this get cancelled?

They'll probably champion it even more.

The Simpsons Showrunner Confirms Movie Sequel Was Being Discussed Prior to Pandemic

"We were really talking about it a lot before the pandemic. And now I think just as a caution, I want to see how movies and, specifically, animated movies come back, because I wouldn't want to do it just as a streaming experience," Jean confirmed with ComicBook.com. "We really want it to be a theatrical movie because that was the point of the first one, it was a thing you couldn't get anywhere else. I'm going to movies, I'm vaccinated. I'm really rooting for the movie industry, but I want to see what, personally, the landscape is. And then they also have so many great movies, I think they have five Avatar movies, five Star Wars movies in waiting ... so they have a lot to roll out and we're going to go see Black Widow this weekend. I'm going to support the theater, even though I have Disney+."

I agree that a new Simpsons Movie on streaming is completely pointless. Might as well just watch four episodes back-to-back.

I think we were so lucky getting the first one when we did. The voices have all changed now, especially Marge (age and all that). Two voice actors having passed away since (no Mrs. Krabappel and Martin), and the Apu character being retired. I just think it can't be replicated anymore unless they do something so outside the box and beyond the show to really shake up the whole thing.

I still have the same stance on this as I did three years ago. If they do another movie, let it be the finale for the whole thing. One last ride with as many of the original writers as they can get. Bonus points if they can get Conan O'Brien involved.
