Animation The Simpsons Movie 2

I still have the same stance on this as I did three years ago. If they do another movie, let it be the finale for the whole thing. One last ride with as many of the original writers as they can get. Bonus points if they can get Conan O'Brien involved.

I think that would be perfect to make it an event again. The FINAL Simpsons.

Though I doubt Disney would allow it unless they had 12 spinoffs at the ready.

Anyone see that Simpsons Marvel thing on Disney Plus? I know Simpsons has been pretty bad, but now they're just a cog in the Disney machine. Talk about selling out. I feel like this would have been a joke in the earlier Simpsons.

Yeah, it does feel kind of gross.

But there was one catch: While Disney Plus has specific tiles on its home screen for Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, “There’s no tile that actually says ‘The Simpsons,'” he says.

So co-creator and executive producer James L. Brooks suggested “The Simpsons” should invade the rest of Disney Plus, through a series of crossover short films.

“It was just the desire that we had to reach out to the viewers [of] the other branches of Disney Plus, to see if they would be interested in us — you know, if they hadn’t seen us as much,” Jean says.

I don't think Disney would mind much if The Simpsons just ended. Having it on Disney+ is just a bonus for them but I'm sure that the earlier seasons of the show are the most watched on the platform.

I actually enjoyed it but The Simpsons selling out is nothing new. That really started happening when they had big celebrity guest stars appearing as themselves seemingly every week for no particular reason other than being famous. "Look, Bart is hanging out with N'Sync!" "Here's Britney Spears....giving an award to...Mr. Burns for some reason!" "Lady Gaga visits Springfield and sings with Lisa!" At least when Leonard Nimoy guest starred on the show back in the day, there was an actual reason behind it.

To be fair, that worked amazing for one classic episode.

they need to do a halloween themed movie - treehouse of horror style and release it in the fall.

They need to focus primarily on Bart and Homer, with the supporting cast varied - keep it simple, yet use the lore.

I haven’t watched a new Simpsons episode in over 10 years. I did see this and can tell the humor just isn’t there anymore.

The Simpsons will follow the path of Grey's Anatomy, Queen Elizabeth, Elon Musk and Betty White......it will outlive us all.

They used to be able blend pop culture references with sharp writing. Now it’s all just all pop culture references and nothing else.

What's ironic there is that the constant pop culture references have been Family Guy's main thing, which was pretty much widely considered a Simpsons ripoff when it first showed up on the scene. The other main similarity is that both of them should have ended a while ago.

Selling out? The Simpsons have been a "sell out" from the start. It wasn't some indy project. Fox always owned them. They were a part of a theme park before Disney even bought them. :lmao:

Well... I mean... It dosen't help that the majority of pop culture also sucks now.

the only thing I watch in the new seasons are the Halloween-episodes and the Christmas episodes (though there was no good one in 10 years)
I enjoyed the Thanksgiving of Horror with the Apocalypto of turkeys

We all knew that Disney wouldn't let this thing die. The first movie might've been the last time I watched something Simpsons-related in its entirety, and I haven't looked back since. I can't even pretend I'm interested in this because I'm just past the point of caring about present-day Simpsons.

Boy, Disney is desperate. I'd be fine with another Simpsons theatrical movie if it acted as a finale but we know that's not the case here since the show's been renewed beyond 2027.

It’s just so odd. You could make the case that the first one came along much later than it should have, and that will be NINETEEN YEARS before this one.

Everyone sounds different (some significantly more so than the others) and the animation is just so crisp and lifeless now. Like Drizzle said, if this was a genuine finale, I could see the point in it, but otherwise…

Honestly, at this point? F*** it, make a live action Simpsons movie in the style of The Flintstones or Scooby Doo just for the hell of it. In any case that would peak the audience's curiosity a lot more than another animated movie 20 years after the fact with an aging voice cast.

I kept up with the show up until Covid but once we cut the cord I fell out. Still, this show is such a childhood staple. I'm curious with what they come up with.

You can say Julie Kavner. We're all thinking Julie Kavner!

I know other actors have aged and their voices for the characters have changed, much like with South Park, but hearing Marge as of recent is painful.
