I've always been curious...

Two poll questions... What is your gender and what is your age?

After answering the poll, if you want, include some other stats... like education, occupation, rough income level, ethnicity, location, marital staus, kids, etc... feel free to include as much as you feel comfortable with. I think it will be interesting. :cwink:

male

immortal :ninja:

BTW... This is an anonymous poll, so be honest. :cwink:

As for myself...

Age: A girl absolutely does not have to tell, but I will confess to being closer to 40 than 30...
Education: College graduate (Southwestern University/Art major = BFA)
Occupation: Art Director/Designer
Ethnicity: White (5th generation native Texan)
Gender: Female
Marital Status: Single... sorta. Long-term relationship. (He's a total babe, but I'm still dragging my cold feet...)
Location: Rural area west of Austin, Tx.
Kids: None human... 4 cats, 2 dogs and a couple of horses (in the works).

Male and I'm 18, but I'm turning 19 in less then 20 days, so I just put myself in the 19-22 range.

LOL... Believe it or not, I did look for a thread like this in the archives... can't believe I missed it... especially because I voted in it! :O

Great minds think alike, I guess. ;) We have one in the Spidey forums that is fun, and it gets bumped periodically. People include more info...

So, may-be some new folks will see this one... :yay:

Young males are in it for the explosions, and scantily clad girls. *points at vegeta1000* see....

The Days of our Lives drama is for the women, as far as I can tell. Oh, lest not forget about Clark, with or without a shirt. He's for the women, too.

Might as well fill one of these bad boys out.

Age: 20. 21 in a month.
Education: College, studying Illustration and Graphic Design
Occupation: Artist... so living in a box.
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
Marital Status: On again off-again relationship
Location: Atlantic Canada.
Kids: Dear god, none. I can barely afford to keep myself alive.

they can cut all the love crap out and just have tom to the whole show shirtless!

They could cut out just about everything, and have the whole cast shirtless. They'll please everyone, and have to do less work.

Nielsen Ratings? No. I believe that company is just in the US, though ratings are collected in foreign markets in order to set the price of advertising and sponsorship fees in those countries.

Don't forget the genre itself. Percentage wise, superhero fandom skews male.

Agreed. Romantic themes, particularly those involving angsty relationships, skew female.

LOL! Well, sex sells. That applies to both male and female audiences. Though with Welling, I think the producers REALLY got their money's worth out of him.

Too funny, especially since I didn't read this before posting my "more shirtless Clark" pictures in the drooling thread moments ago. :O

This excerpt from Variety (1/25/06) sums it up well:

Part of the show's durability stems from its playing on multiple levels to different constituencies. At various moments, "Smallville" is an action hour, sci-fi romp, teen soap, family drama and rethinking of comicbook mythology -- often all within the same episode. Small wonder that when the program was honored by the Museum of TV & Radio, the audience included children, teenage girls swooning over Welling and middle-aged men, asking about Clark's wardrobe and where the TV show exists vis-a-vis the films.

That's what makes Smallville one of kind. You really can't compare to any other show that's out right now.

Stats you want, hey?

Female
Married
3 Children
White Australian living in the U.S.
5'6"
Over 100 pounds
Over 40
Occupation - Whatever I damn well please. :woot:

Actually I trained to be a law clerk which I did for a number of years, my last job in Oz was a database manager for a local Hospice. When we came to the States it was to be for two years, so I thought I'd take some time off, four years later we're still here and I'm still taking some time off. :cwink:

Favourite food - Italian
Favourite drink - Coffee during the day, Chardonnay at night
Favourite TV show - Duh!!

And that's all I'm offering, I do want to keep some things secret. :yay:

Female, 26, not married, no kids and a German living in Germany. Should be enough for stats right?
