The Smurfs...heading to the big-screen!

This movie is awful despite NPH and Hank Azaria, who voices some of the most recognizable Simpsons characters.

This is going to smurf so smurfing hard. Just watching that piece of smurf trailer felt like being smurfed up the smurf with a lead smurfing pipe. I hope the smurfing smurfholes who made this smurfpile all smurfing die.

At least George has some acting experience.

I want to know how the hell Katy Perry got into this. If it was an eye candy role, I'd understand, but it's voice work.

So unless Smurfette is going to be singing an auto-tuned solo, I don't know why the brought Perry in for this.

George just plays himself in everything that he does, no real effort to be different with each role.

Plus, George Lopez has a horrible voice. If they needed a Mexican they should have gotten Gabriel Iglesias.

maybe Katy Perry is in because a producer got a BJ hehehehhehe

And there's your inevitable Katy Perry "I kissed a girl" joke.

They definitely need to get that man a gig in voice-acting for movies&stuff!

i literally face-palmed after hearing that stupid ass line from smurfette.
Nice job hollywood, nice.job.

so the dialoge has been written for a hot singer that looks like a barbie doll? pathetic

It could have been worse, they could have had Grouchy voice by a black dude. If that were the case I could imagine Grouchy just cussing everyone out.

I honestly think this movie looks funny. It's been forever since I last watched a Smurfs cartoon, but the movie looks like it'll be funny and a good time at the theaters.

The only part that looks good is the pre-New York stuff in the medieval times and their village. Why exactly could the movie have not just taken place entirely there again?

I'm not going to go the whole "why must you rape my childhood" route, but I must admit... watching that trailer left me feeling a little violated. My ass still hurts.

I wonder how long before we get The Smurfs vs The Muppets ? Think of the horrors with that

What really disappointed me is that they could have done a movie based on the Smurfs original source material, as a medieval fantasy, which was perfectly marketable in today's climate (think Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit) but instead they want to set every effing thing in modern-day America for some reason.

I know, it's stupid. There were four goddamn Shrek movies set in a magic land that raked in a buttload of cash. Maybe the Smurfs wouldn't have pulled in those kind of numbers, but it could have done well, easily. Even though the characters are old, it would still probably be marketable to kids, and adults who grew up with the Smurfs would want to see it too.

Instead, they went for something that they think has broader appeal... but my guess is, it's just going to turn more people off.

I would argue that the original source material would be MORE marketable to kids than this movie. The original source material featured a young knight in training, named Johan, with a goofy dwarf sidekick, who discovered the secret existence of the Smurfs or something like that.

Make that young apprentice knight a 12-13 year old boy, and you have the perfect formula for a family adventure film. But no, apparently the studio bigwigs seem to think all the 8-9 year olds who watch How I Met Your Mother and who remember Doogie Howser (think about that one ...) will somehow get the humour of Neil Patrick Harris encountering the Smurfs in a modern day big city.
