The Smurfs...heading to the big-screen!

Oh, let me count the cliches of that trailer:

1) Make it seem like a more serious movie than it actually is, like an action or sci-fi film.

2) Zoom in on the world until you're at street level of a major city

3) Introduce cutesy focal characters whilst playing Tone Loc's "Wild Thing." Seriously, this is the only way he gets royalties for that song, whenever it's used in the trailer for a family, which is quite the oxymoron, when you consider what that song is even about!!!

The director of Scooby Doo, plus the use of Tone Loc's "Wild Thing" in the teaser trailer, equals me assuming the very worst about this movie.

It should take place in France or Belgium, BTW.

now i wasn't expecting AVATAR quality cgi on the smurfs
but still..... they could do a little better than that

Tone Loc is so outdated. The movie is so bad, that they had to use Tone Loc in the trailer. In 2010? He hasn't done anything in this new century of any relevance.

Does he get royalty checks anymore? I really haven't heard any commercial playing "Wild Thing" in a while.

When I first saw the Smurfs movie headline on Yahoo I was like alright I gotta check that out. Then I started reading the artical while I was waiting for the trailor to load and was like New York. I just kept reading to see if it was gonn abe a time portal or Gargamel using a spell to send them into the future. And what do you know we get the time portal.

Why do they always do this? :csad:

Next up: He-Man!!!!! ..... in Las Vegas!!!!

Geez,Hollywood may have done a bunch of craptastic things, but they wouldn't be that dumb to go with that idea.

1 and 2 , very common
3 , purposely used this song to subliminally remind of us about another movie we have liked .

Trailers are always cliched . Lately I've been getting annoyed when they frequently fade to black in transition.

This doesn't look that bad or good really , it reminds me of Alvin in the chipmunks

The Smurfs remind me of those creepy little pastry creatures from Young Sherlock Holmes.

I was holding out hope for this one, but this teaser pretty much was the nail in the coffin for me. Turning the Sphinx blue? What? This looks f**king stupid.

I honestly think this movie looks like it'll be pretty funny and entertaining. I'll be seeing it. I watched The Smurfs a little bit as a kid but haven't seen a Smurfs cartoon in eons.

I'm still looking forward it. I know...I know..

but that was an awful teaser. every cliche in the book includes Ton Loc

I think it's the eyes that need work. But when you watch it in Hi-Def, they look pretty good. you can even see they have 'fuzzy' skin.

Next up: He-Man!!!!! ..... in Las Vegas!!!!

Already been done back in 1990, starring Dolph Lundgren and Courtney Cox. Might not have been Las Vegas, but just as stupid an idea.

And then there was Beastmaster 2: Portal Through Time. Not an adaptation of a Saturday morning cartoon, but still, very stupid idea.

The trailer for fairly decent for me...

i'll be more surprised if I was in the cinema and had no idea what movie was it for...

but yea, fun stuff to watch. Wont harm anyone

Well, they've nailed the look of the Smurf's which you can't say about a lot of adaptations these days.........but i'm sure the movie will suck.

Heh... on the "Avatar" note...

Now I really want to see a movie where Jake Sully becomes a Smurf...

playdough doesnt absorb light like skin. playdough is not translucent

The texture of the skin is like blue play dough that has translucency. I think it looks really odd.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.. :p

It's just an announcement trailer. Nothing to get crazy over.

I can guarantee there will be one instance where a character says the line, "I am gonna smurf you up!"

Why does it look like one of those fake trailers in front of Tropic Thunder?

Whatever hope there was for the Yogi Bear movie just flew out the window at the speed of sound.
