The Smurfs...heading to the big-screen!

The critics totally bashed this movie... and everyone I've heard from that's seen it has said it was enjoyable

That is why I'm very indifferent to critics in general. Specific critics I can agree with or follow but as a whole I find most of them to be critical for the sake of being critical. There just appear to be too many who look for a very narrow set of criteria and apply it to every movie without differentiating between genre or intent behind it.

I heard about The Smurfs 2 being announced. I honestly look forward to it, I enjoyed the original. It wasn't a masterpiece but it kept me entertained.

for all the negative thoughts i had about this movie, i enjoyed it alot
papa smurf was badass and i liked all the little nods to the show
and the jokes for adults
nph was good as always,as was hank
i knew they'd stick in a katy perry reference

really surprised 7/10

Unsurprisingly they're hard at work pushing people to buy the Blu-Ray version by giving the DVD very little. Too bad. It's also way overpriced. This isn't the economy to try pushing people to spend more.

I liked the movie but I'll wait for a decent sale for the Blu-ray before buying it, it's ridiculously overpriced.

aha i see. they think they found the formula. small blue people walking around NY,Paris. the third movie is in egypt right?

i still think the village looked amazing in the first movie. Imageworks did a fantastic job on the grass, houses, lighting, trees. the movie should be set in the forest.

Paris... no one has ever put cartoon characters from a tv show in a movie about them goin to Paris. :o

Why cant we get a film set firmly in the smurf world? Why must they always bring it back to the human world? And if this does good and they do the third film I pray once again that its set in teh smurfs world and that they use a different villan that isnt Gargamel.

Part 2 takes place in Paris - I guess that's why they are shooting it in Canada - as we speak...!

But it is Montreal, so I guess that counts for something...

The eye scares the **** out of me.

really hate the "put two fingers up for no.2" type of posters
glad nph is coming back for it

Would be totally better if they ditched the real world and just stuck to the enchanted world!

Watched the first film the other day, deserves all the criticismo it got, plot was done before, just feels like fan fiction brought to life. And the smurfs are from a different dimension? I thought they just lived in a hided and secret forest, added a lot more misticism. Can't our world have magic now? Or is this way just cheaper and faster to explain why the fan fiction....err...i mean film to take place in New York?

Perfect, absolutely perfect. Definitely felt like I was watching the cartoon character come straight to life. IMO, there couldn't have been anybody better for a live-action Gargamel but Hank.

Really? I think David Bradley could have been a great Gargamel
