After the Suez crisis, Britain and the USA have generally supported complimentary foreign policy aims. With the exception of Vietnam and Grenada, Britain has supported the USA's foreign wars. The British prime minister and American president have traditionally maintained a close relationship of trust and support. The cooperation of Reagan and Thatcher was crucial to ending the Cold War.
With the election of Donald Trump- who has strongly indicated that his foreign policy will tilt towards Russia and away from Western Europe- as president-elect of the USA, are these conventions drawing to an end? If so, is that a good thing or bad?
