Most forms of Spider-Man in other media have sort of an unproblematic problem. You'll notice that Peter Parker talks in basically the same voice when he puts on the mask. Now, this should be no problem when it comes to random members of the general public, but too often are Pete's loved ones put in danger, and none of them notice that this is the voice of someone they hear most everyday.

Spider-Man 2 addressed this simply by having Peter not communicate with Harry whenever they came in close contact, but blatantly contradicted it with Aunt May. However, the 1967 cartoon had Peter put on a sort of over-the-top Superman-ish voice when the mask was on.

Is this something you feel the reboot could benefit from?

I say it isnt a big deal...With a mask a voice sounds a lil muffled anyway...

Interesting thread/question. Not sure, I kinda lean with CalebYourMaster...it's kinda like you would think most would easily tie together Peter with Spider-Man what with the amazing pictures he somehow seems to get.... BUT... you just accept it even though it's not logical.

Now mind you, it's NOWHERE near as illogical as say the Clark Kent glasses disguise.. but still :cwink:

I think like CYM.. the mask muffles the sound enough to distinguish it.

Just not sure if I want the Bale Batman voice.. especially since Spidey is supposed to be witty and quiping.

In the cartoon, I always thought Peter's voice sounded different just due to how confident and heroic he felt when he was Spidey. You could literally hear the confidence in his voice, as he was louder, more assured and fast-talking. And for that reason, I never blamed anyone for not recognizing him.

While you bring up some good points, it doesn't really bother me to be honest.

Honestly, it didn't particularly bother me until a few days ago when I watched the pilot for ßpider-Man Uunlimited. What you've got is a scene where Spidey announces from the cockpit of an aircraft that he's hijacking it, and a couple of moments later, the exact same voice says it's Peter Parker and that he's going with Spider-Man.

Good point!

Oh good. Reading through the "Show me da cheese" thread, I was convinced you wanted the Dark Spidey.

LOL... nope. Some dark storylines, Lizard (paradise Lost)... death of Capt Stacy... Brother vs. Brother... Night Gwen Stacy died...

But the humor and light moments should mainly come from Spider-Man/Peter behind the mask. And that is NOT saying that every battle should have Spidey quiping either, mind you. :cwink:

If they make a difference in the voice, it should be done subtley. More like Keaton's Batman and less like Bale's Batman where it's so obvious the person is putting on a voice and it sounds rather silly. Except appropriate for Spidey of course. I like the idea of Spidey sounding more confident then Peter in the cartoon. That would be a good way to go at it.

NPH tried changing his voice in the CGI Spidey series,

not a fan.

the voice should be the same, but there should be more confidence.

Reeve's example of how Clark Kent and Superman spoke is a good example.

Not to say Peter should be awkward, just not as confident as Spider-Man

They should take note from the Spider-Man 60's cartoon and the Spider-Man 90's animated series without a doubt.

The way to do it is by having different accents. Maybe Spidey could have more of a Brooklyn accent while Peter has something more midwest. Or perhaps Spidey could even have a British accent (since that is Garfield's real accent) while Peter has an American one. He could just say that he's putting on a different accent to mask his voice. It would be a plausible explanation. If it was even written that Peter's parents had a British background, then it would explain why his accent can shift without any effort. I've seen Irish people whose accents automatically change when they go back home to Ireland but are completely English sounding in the company of others, and these aren't even people who are expert mimics.

You guys are just competing with the Bat- and SuperForums now, aren't you? It was a good joke, trust me, I fell for it, until the different accents suggestion. That's when I knew this was a joke. Good one.

I don't really care about a voice change tbh. It's just one of those things I just ignore.

(that means, no voice change imo)

No voice change.

He should just come off as like more, confident, there should never be a moment when he's quiet when he's Spidey.

His voice should remain the same, however, there should be one fundamental difference: personality.

When in peter parker mode, he should be quiet nerdy type (not so quiet, but quiet).

When he's donned his mask, he should be the type of joke-maker and confident type of guy you see in the comics/(some of) the games.

Agreed.

In the original comics by Stan Lee and Ditko it was established that people couldn't tell because the mask muffled Peter's voice enough to hide his true identity.

but, unlike Superman, Peter is completely covered up. He acts very different, even now.
In the beginning Peter was subdued and hid his outgoing silly side, but as Spider-Man he let it loose and became the fun loving joking Spider-man we all know and love.
Even today, while Spider-man is making non stop jokes in fights, Peter is a little more subdued. Not as much as he used to be. He is comfortable enough with himself to be himself now, but as Spider-man he magnifies it by 10.

So even if people thought he sounded similar, he act like a totally different person. So i don't think it would be a problem.
