I feel compelled to add this here since that references my only gripe with SR, that they cut too much.

The return to Krypton sequence just seems like an odd thing to cut regardless of the film being long. I mean, the plot device is that he's been away for like 5 years... Shouldn't they have kept it to show what he was away doing rather than just reference it?

Remember that pic we kept seeing of Clark reading a newspaper that read "Why the world doesn't need Superman" ?? The scene where he catches up on what's happened by going through newspapers was cut.

How about Martha moving on in her life, the scene where I got my signature from lol.. "Even you can't stop the world from spinning..." The entire relationship that was going to be revealed was cut. If we can take a chance with Lois having a kid why can't we have Martha dating? The world has moved on without him after all

100% agreed. Two old folks can't run an entire farm practically by themselves and expect to make great profit from it. Martha would eventually accept her loss of Jonathan and moved on with her life. Just ask any elderly widow. And Montana (read the novelization) would have made a perfect choice for these two elderly people who grew up in the country.

Having these scenes put back in would have helped the characterization of Clark in seeing what he's missed out on and what he left behind.

God, I hope for an extended cut, because the scenes that were left on the floor were too vital and too good to be left out. In an age where we're seeing the return of longer movie times (Titanic, LOTR, King Kong) it shouldn't have made a difference if the movie ran a little over 3 hrs.

These first two pics are promotional images for Christ's sake.

Where did this scene go? As Clark on the farm he learns of what's happened during his absence (which would allow the audience more insight as well)

Hmm how about the scene where he has his glasses on as Superman in what seems to be a mirror? Could have been a very interesting moment where he's pondering the question of the world really needing Superman.

Onto some bigger story elements, we lost the entire return to Krypton story which would have showed exactly what he left for. The actual voyage that took him out of everyone's life.

It's like so many of the scenes from blogs and past trailers that made me want to see the movie, were the ones cut out. Kind of like they tugged on our cape! Don't tug on a Superman fans cape Rest assured when the DVD is out, if they don't insert those scenes but include them via deleted scene feature.. I am going to find someone or freaking get an editing program and edit in all the scenes where they seem appropriate.

welcome. singer confirmed that we'll see some deleted scenes on the dvd. though i doubt we'll see them all. we know we're not getting the return to krpyton (atleast not on this release), so i do hope he puts all the smallville stuff on. hopefully one day they'll be an extended dvd release with everything back in, but until then, there's always fan edits. i just hope the deleted scenes have the same video quality as the movie so they can be reinserted without looking out of place.

* in the original shirt rip scene, it was just a teeshirt, n clark ran back to the planet where he moved the picture to reveal the S, and then dove out the window

*martah kent was also moving back to montana

*when he first arrives out of the cab at the planet, the guy cant MOVE hus suit case and says "what do you have in there bricks?" bn of course clark picks em up with ease.

i sure hope so. but singer seems to be very stubborn when it comes to extended editions. i understand seeing as how he directed it but give the fans what they want.

Yeah there was a lotta stuff that was left off. Him in the ship, the dude at Martha's, looking in the mirror with the glasses, looking at the suit in the box. I think that bit in the trailer where he crashes through the walls wasnt in there either but I could be wrong seeing as I only saw the movie once

Considering that Glenn Ford passed away yesterday....it would have been real nice to have had this scene left in the film. It would have been a nice tribute to him in his days of failing health.

I agree with most of those except Martha dating. I think it's not necessary to make the point that the world has moved on. Maybe part of the scene where she says "Even you can't stop the world from spinning. . ." is enough for her to make the point. I've never been fan of the super kid. Those other cut scenes would've improved the film.

Fans have become smarter than that since the SW and LOTR series. I'm skipping this until the "special edition" comes out IF it's recut.

If it fits with the story, like Kal-El awakening something or bringing something back, I wouldnt be suprised if the return to Krypton scene ends up in the sequel.
