Stargirl The Stargirl News and Discussion Thread

This show definitely looks like it has a higher budget when compared to Titans.

Too bad Titans didn't embrace its comic book roots like Stargirl seems to be doing.
One of the main writers for Titans is Akiva Goldsman, so I guess there's your answer

Not mention Geoff Johns executive producing it as well. He's also executive producing Superman and Lois and the Green Lantern series for HBO Max.

I'm a big JSA fan and I believe the JSA will be portrayed better in this than Smallville and Arrowverse.

I agree. Didn’t Geoff Johns write that two part JSA episode on Smallville.

I don't know if I'd say, of all things, Goldsman is someone generally mostly accused of that.

Those two episodes were good but needed a bigger budget to fully realize The Showrunners and Geoff’s vision.

Looks like the pilot episode is up on DC Universe!

Yep they said Stargirl will air in the DCU on Monfays and CW on Tuesdays.

Saw screeners of the first three episodes. Definitely the sleekest of the DCU shows aesthetically, but it still has some bad CW High School stereotypes. Luke Wilson MVP. There's a pretty impressive one-shot in the second episode. Overall, pretty fun but I'm not sure how much more I'm allowed to say because of embargoes.
Also, I feel like the CW edit will be a butchered version considering there's not that much fat to cut; especially if they're cutting as much as 10 minutes per episode.

Those first 10mins.....are better than JL, and any of the Arrowverse crossovers. THATs what I want to see! Every DC show...get.on.that.level!

The rest of it was...a lot of set up but I still enjoyed it overall. Courtney is a very fresh character and the actress is definitely the best iteration we've gotten yet. Hard to believe that 3rd time was the charm.

The Cosmic Staff having a mind of its own worked really well, it managed to make me laugh at some parts. The special effects for it were very good.

Kind of confused how some of these villains and heroes didnt wear masks but managed to live in the same town without bumping into one another during the day.

Very excited to see the rest of the series, it's definitely a breath of fresh air. Though I think this probably should've been a 2hr premiere.

I enjoyed it. A ton of set up in that first episode, so I’ll be curious to see what has been edited out for the CW version.

Brec is quite good in the lead, and Luke Wilson is really strong as Pat. I had fun with it overall...I’m in!

Yeah you guys weren't kidding about that opening battle. Very cinematic and for a lower budget tv show the special effects looked pretty great IMO. It completely destroys anything that I've seen from the CW shows and even the other DC streaming shows. Now, I understand special effects can get expensive, but it saddens me every year when I watch those damn crossovers and it looks like they barely put any real money into them and honestly a lot of the time they just come off feeling and looking cheap as hell.

I don't know much about JSA or the Stargirl character, but so far the actress playing her seems very likable and I am also really loving Luke Wilson and Amy Smart's characters. The high school stuff does look like it will be pretty cliche and stereotypical though, but overall I really did enjoy the premiere and will definitely be sticking with it.

I'm very curious how they'll edit this down for TV since it's an hour on a streaming service versus commercials on the CW. At least with Harley Quinn on SyFy, it's half an hour and the network hasn't edited out any of the language or blood. But with Stargirl, having not seen the version on DC Universe, I imagine they'll have to trim this down.

Even the overall feel and intensity of the scene was on point. Arrowverse tends to take the easiest route when it comes to these battles.

Geoff said they'll trim about 10mins and just shorten some scenes. Im guessing the drive in scene will be edited town along with some of the high school scenes.

I thought the pilot was very good and I hope we will learn more about the JSA throughout this season. The special effects and the actions sequences were on point.

Great pilot premiere for CW. Whatever was edited from the DCU version, it’s not that much different.

Very cinematic and bright.

Stargirl did one thing some of the Arrowverse shows failed to do - focus on the main character.

One thing to note. There's a name I never thought to see again - Greg Beeman!
