Horror The Strangers

Funny Game's breaking the fourth wall made me turn it off. That destroyed all chances of it being horrifying.

Thats why Im loving this movie its great how they keep breaking the fourth wall! I dunno man I just kinda "get" these types of movies that are just out there ya know and this is really really out there. It almost makes it seem like they are some kinda god-like characters because they know they are in a movie while everyone else is oblivious

For me, that's what made it horrifying. But I understand where your coming from. The actor just pulled it off so well that it made me actually hate him. When his brother or friend
gets shot and then he takes the remote and rewinds it back made the movie for me.
You just thought for one second the couple had their moment and just like that it's taken away.

Yea dude that part was GREAT! I was kinda mad that i read the entire synopsis beforehand and i knew that part was coming

This movie was really not at all my cup of tea. I like the way it was directed, & I thought the villans were creepy. I just really didn't relate to the people in the house. I would not have done half of the stupid ***** these people did. They basically got themselves killed.

I didn't like that artifice very much either. But it didn't make me turn off the film. There is some really great acting in those films (the original and the remake). Why isn't Michael Pitt working more ? Powerful actor imo. (if they ever recast the Joker, not that i really want it personnaly anyway, but maybe he could be an interesting choice ?)

I always find Michael Pitt comes off over the top for some reason.

I haven't seen him in a lot of things but I thought he was great and very creepy in Funny Games.

So after all your Funny Games talk, I decided to check the movie out. I have to say it was one of the most truly horrifying movies I've seen in ages. It was completely different in tone than The Strangers; instead of relying on lame jumpy scares it was just psychologically uncomfortable.

I can't really think of a movie in recent memory where I've felt so uncomfortable and horrified for the protagonists. The performances were so top notch it was just unbelievable. I had no problems with the 4th wall stuff either, however...
the rewind part was lame if you ask me.

I can understand why they'd do that, but it kind of jaded me towards the ending in general. But man, what a crazy movie.

I think Michael Pitt is an absolutely superb young actor. Everything Ive seen him in Ive loved Murder by Numbers, Bully, The Hawk is Dying, hell even on Dawsons Creek he was really good (Just the resuly of many a bored nites.) He needs to be in more movies seriously

You should check him out in The Dreamers. Good movie

is there any word on the sequel or is this pretty much dead?

I think it's smart and great that they filmed all 3 films at once. Always good to have a plan and stick to it!

I enjoyed the first film. So if this trilogy is good, I'd be watching without a mask.

Tiny clip and it yet was super boring. No high hopes given the creative team behind this.

Well at least they are releasing the complete trilogy neXt year. So if its awful, I could binge watch them back to back before 2025.

Awful clip. Not sure why'd they'd release that as the "first look".

Admittedly, out of this new trilogy of films, I have little interest in the first film. Seems to be a lesser re-do of the original. However, I'm interested to see how they expand the series in the other two films and explain more about the killers.

I watched that clip a few hours ago & thought the same thing. It was literally 2 and a half minutes of her going back and forth to the door. I want this to be good & to at least be serviceable but that first clip does not give a good first impression at all.

Her acting aside, It's a good example of how proper lighting is everything and shooting on film vs shooting on digital.

Yeah the killers in the original two movies have REALLY stupid motives. As in barely any at all other than "why not"? That's not good enough. It's just as flimsy as "I hunt" (anyone gets that reference, congrats). We need a bit more than that or "Because you were home".
