Horror The Strangers

I think it's smart and great that they filmed all 3 films at once. Always good to have a plan and stick to it!
It's what should've happened with the new Halloween trilogy, not to be off-topic.

Yeah the killers in the original two movies have REALLY stupid motives. As in barely any at all other than "why not"? That's not good enough. It's just as flimsy as "I hunt" (anyone gets that reference, congrats). We need a bit more than that or "Because you were home".
Personally, I think you’re kind of missing the point as to what the original Strangers was all about.

I remember that single line getting a TON of gasps and shock factor when revealing…the simple reason behind the main characters being tormented/tortured through out the night was because “they were home”.

In a way, that’s terrifying and plays into the mind of a psychopath/serial killer. Personally, I’m tired of EVERYONE having a backstory or a stressor or “why they kill”. To me, it can be fascinating but more times than not it just becomes a lame plot point. I think the reason why Michael Myers and Freddy have stood the test of time is because they’re shrouded in mystery.

You don’t need all the answers…leave things to the imagination and have your audience come to their own conclusions. I love the “because you were home line” because it makes any viewing audience member feel as though they themselves could be a target.

I was so stoked for this trilogy but am not a fan of what I saw from that first clip…

I can definitely agree there. We don't always need to see everything or know every single aspect of the villain. That's why the original Black Christmas is such an awesome film. You know next to nothing about Billy & it makes him all the more terrifying. Same goes for the original Strangers film. I loved not knowing anything about them, and then receiving that one line at the end of the film that told everything that needed to be told.

All of the signs are pointing to all three of these films being the total opposite of the original two. From the clip to having Renny Harlin involved to exploring the backstories of the villains...nothing about these films sounds exciting.

Trailer is out tomorrow.

It doesn't look as bad as what I thought it would, but it feels rather pointless.

Yeah, this one doesn't look incredibly promising. I'll likely watch at some point because I love slasher movies & horror in general but I definitely won't go out of my way to catch it right off the bat.

I read that the other two films in this new trilogy have already been shot and will have a different concept than all previous ones in the franchise.

Just feel like doing a total rehash of the original film (looks almost like the same movie) was not a good way to jumpstart the new trilogy and build excitement.

It doesn't even look the same, it looks like cheap sh** that's shot on digital where there's zero sense of proper lighting and atmosphere.

I'm probably the only person on earth who enjoyed the previous one so I'll be checking out this one as well.

The wide shot at the end spoiling the jumpscare... So ****ing bad. :funny:

I liked the first one with Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler, but I haven't bothered watching the sequels.
