Hey there! :)

If you (or Singer) can't take the heat - get out of the kitchen (Forum/Convention, delete as applicable). :oldrazz:

So that when the lurking Warner Bros. staff look in on these forums, all they find are a bunch of people wearing 'I  Bryan Singer' T-shirts. Posting about how much of a box office smash Superman Returns was and lets have more of the same please Mr Singer.

Zod Returns!? Wowee - yes please Mr Singer sir, in fact just remake Superman II and change a few things around.

Less action you say! Well, you know best Mr Singer sir.

$390 million dollars, you sure do have the midas touch Mr Singer sir. Superman Returns was the most successful Superman movie ever! Its a fact!

Lois Lane spin-off movie, I'm pre-ordering my tickets as we speak Mr Singer sir.

More confirmed kills for Jason, jeepers, sounds like fun for all the family!

How specifically?

Within the context of the movie, Juggernaut was always going to be relegated to the role of henchman. From that perspective I think he had enough screen time and some very entertaining and fun moments.

Secondly, the whole Cytorrak business would have been a total and utter distraction, within the context of the movie and thus I'm glad it was ignored.

Thirdly, given the contraints of the human body, I think the look of Juggernaut was about as good as could be expected. I mean the comic book design is a 'tad' exaggerated, and you have to wonder how he turns his head. :woot:

He reminded me of the Bane character from Batman & Robin, relegated to nothing more than a mixture of a throwaway character and comedic relief. He had bad lines ("I'm the Juggernaut, *****" going down as the worst line in any comic book movie), and his costume was terrible, with his muscles looking about as fake as possible.

Sorry to derail.

I absolutely agree.

Also, to me it's unfortunate that a group of people couldn't enjoy the merits of Superman Returns since they have been waiting almost ten-years plus for a Superman reboot and have been deprived of its cinematic pleasure.

What merits? :oldrazz:

I do hope that Singer crafts a picture that a larger majority of fans can get behind and celebrate.

I won't abandon all hope until they announce the villain.

But I'm telling you now, I won't kneel before Zod.

Also, one last thing that I never could fully justify about Superman Returns..............

How come when standing on New Krypton, Superman receives a smackdown from Lex and his thugs........ but later he is able to lift New Krypton up into the stratosphere with his superhuman strength? As much as I enjoyed the picture, this one cinematic oversight is something I could never really reason away....

Anyone have any suggestion? Upper Krust, even though you don't like the picture, I want you to play devil's advocate and defend Superman Returns!

The movie was indefensible...oh wait, you want me to make up an excuse for that one (of many) logic gaps...?

A. He 'charges up' with some sunny delight just before he lifts the continent.

B. The rock/earth between him and the 'continent' probably protected him from kryptonite.

C. It may have taken some time for the kryptonite to have affected him the first time he lands on the 'continent'. I mean he didn't fall over right away, so it was probably a more subtle weakening than being directly exposed to 'raw' kryptonite - if there is such a thing.

The last really does show what a fool Kal-el is portrayed in the movie as though. I mean where the bejeebus did he think Lex conjured that continent out of...don't answer that. :woot:

He reminded me of the Bane character from Batman & Robin,

No way, Bane was nothing but a grunting ape in that movie, it was a totally horrendous treatment of such a brilliant character. He had no good lines, no good scenes. Total waste of the character.

Juggernaut is basically a thug. Was portrayed as dumb but basically a bad*ss mofo (as much as a 12 certificate can portray such a thing).

He was relegated to the role of henchman, which was basically as befitted his status within the movie. He was always going to be second fiddle to Phoenix and Magneto.

I don't see why he shouldn't have some funny lines, he always likes talking smack in the comics.

I thought that was a classic line. Totally in fitting with the thug persona. Got a great laugh in the cinema.

He also had a number of great scenes, his intro, the fight with Wolverine, barrelling into the soldiers, the wall-busting scene.

I totally disagree. When I first heard about the movie and how they would do Juggernaut I had reservations. But when I saw it onscreen it didn't look fake at all. Improbable to a degree - yes, but not fake. Given that Juggernaut's proportions ARE meant to be improbable, it was totally acceptable.

A friend actually let me borrow the X-Men 3 dvd on Friday - been too busy to watch it yet, but when I do so I will pay special attention to Juggernaut's costume/prosthetics. But I certainly don't remember it looking fake when I saw it in the cinema.

As for the costume. Juggernaut's comic costume is totally non-functionable, he can't turn his head for goodness sake. Obviously they had to make changes.

You saw that? I didn't even knew that was a suit untill I saw it on the DVD specials. I didn't know that guy beforhand so I thought he was really that bulked up. :ninja:

Ah, you restored my faith in the movie by providing those three examples of how it was possible for Kal-el to save humanity.

You played right into my hands, Upper Krust. Right into my hands. Bahaha. :ninja:

which is why, when the HUGE amount of dirt wore away, he was weakend to the point of near death. An actually lead isn't the only material that can stave off radiation

The release of large quantities of methane gas can
have other consequences as well. Methane is one
of a group of the so-called “greenhouse gases.”
In the atmosphere, these gases allow solar radia-
tion to pass through but absorb heat radiation
that is reflected back from the Earth’s surface, thus
warming the atmosphere. Many scientists have sug-
gested that increased carbon dioxide in the atmo-
sphere produced by burning fossil fuels is causing
a “greenhouse effect” that is gradually warming
the atmosphere and the Earth’s surface. A sudden
release of methane from deep-sea sediments could
have a similar effect, since methane has more than
30 times the heat-trapping ability of carbon dioxide.

Since kryptonite has as Luthor once said in STM" A specific level of systemic radiation", there's nothing in the rules that say it can't work. However as you can see, there is a basis in actual science for it. __________________

I think it did. What are you going to do about it?

Seriously, this is getting old fast, folks...

Continute to debate the topic, provide no financial suport to the SInger movies. I've already written to DC Comics via e-mail and I intend to write to WB and DC again in snail mail form. I will also provide my assessment to my friends who don't have the background in comics that I do, but this as of yet has not been necessary. None of them have liked it based on their own judegement of who SUperman is and what good filmmaking is.

Sometimes I miss those times when we had no internet or message boards.

I'm going to back you up, partner.

Also, people always point out the discrepancy, "Why hasn't the military done anything to stop Lex Luthor?"

When, in Spider-Man 2, how come there are no snipers in helicopters to take out Doc Ock as he's scaling rooftops in broad daylight? I mean, is it that hard to get a sniper shot of him? Furthermore, the cops are awfully dumb to fire into civilian apartments (and miss) as Doc Ock gets away. I mean, what's better, to let a bank robber go or to accidentally kill a civilian in his apartment minding his own business?

And yet, Spider-Man 2 gets a pass for the same discrepancies that Superman Returns is accused of. It's absurd! You're out of order! This whole damn message board is out of order!

Adieu, adieu.
