Why the World Needs to See Superman!

Three things are apparent about Superman Returns: Three things are apparent about Superman Returns:

* 1. Bryan Singer is on the fast track to being a legend.
2. Kevin Spacey's only limitation is the very few projects he works on each year.
3. Brandon Routh is... Clark Kent.

Superman Returns picks up right after Superman 2, after a 5-6 year trip back to his destroyed home world of Krypton, and boy howdy have things changed when he gets back. In his absence Lois has gotten engaged, Clark Kent has supposedly been soul-searching around the world, and the world has just seemingly moved on, without him. The big question is: Does the world need a savior? The timely answer is one of the most gorgeous uses of special effects as Superman makes his grand entrance just in time to save a crashing plane. Now I don't want to give away too many of the goodies, but trust me: this film is loaded like an Easter Bunny that was planning on going on strike.

If you have any misgivings about the castings, as I've already mentioned, Brandon and Kevin are unbelievably good so count on many chills going up and down your spine. Watching them is like watching the comic come to life. Bosworth cannot be over looked, in fact - given the reaction to Katie Holmes in Batman Begins - I could envision her being the biggest gamble in the audience's mind. You'll be happy to know that she pulls it off in spades. I never once saw her as anything other then Lois Lane, it is a career defining roll for her — now she'll always be Lois. The rest of the cast did well especially Sam Huntington who plays Jimmy Olsen, he knocks that performace out of the ballpark.

Lastly, Superman Returns is coming to IMAX and I have got to tell you: bring an extra pair of shorts. It's not just good. It's not even great. It's spectacular! It will BLOW YOUR MIND! Whatever technique IMAX does to the film is just jaw dropping; Superman saving a crashing plane honestly feels like he's in the room with you. It'll be 20 minutes of the film that is converted to IMAX and I think I want to see it like 20 times. I'll see y'all in line at the IMAX theater! What a great way to start the summer! A triumphant Return!

ya know...after reading all these reviews, i don't think it's far-fetched to say that it might actually be better than Godfather (like someone stated a couple of months ago).

AWESOME !!!! With all of these great reviews from the critics, It looks like SUPERMAN RETURNS will be a smach hit just like BATMAN BEGINS last year .

Am I dreaming here!!??..... Or are ALL of these reviews (thus far) nothing less than EXSTREMELY POSITIVE!!! This is just so freaken great!

In my new issue of total film it said that it will have a review of Superman Returns on their website on the 10 of July.

I think WB realized superman and batman were their chance to compete against marvel so they really paid attention to these films. I like Marvel and DC, its all good sources for good film imo.

All these reviews are great news. I knew Singer could do it.

Notice the reviews all talk about the acting and little else. These are Warner Bros filtered reviews.

Acting is my only concern and it sounds like I have nothing to worry about.

I've been very surprised at just how positive the reviews have been so far. There's been 2 "best superhero movie ever" mentions and they're all just gushing about it. I've been trying to keep my expectations low (impossible, I know) and this really isn't helping at all.
Not that I dont believe it, CAUSE I DO!!!...But where do they mention SR as beeing the best superhero flick ever??

Gosh, "I told you so's" are so hard to keep in right now.

After a year and a half of utter nonsense, whining, fanboy crabbing, subjective reasoning, X3 versus SR comparisons, Singer-hating, etc....it just couldn't be better.

Fox should be kicking themselves in the ass for being so harsh with Singer, not giving him what he needed. Obviously, WB knew how to do it!

Damn, trying to not get my hopes up too high, but it's hard. Besides, these are just some mixed critic reviews, and not full on reviews. Still, nice to see critics be THAT positive this early. It's like the opposite of what happened with X3.

The Boston paper and one other.

Sounds like Latino Review wrote the most positive review of SR :)

Well, we all won't need a review as we would have already seen it by then. :)

All these positive reviews...wow.

Anticipation....

I've read the reviews. I've seen the videos, trailers, and pictures. I've purchased my ticket for the June 27, 10:00 PM showing. And now, I've come to may conclusion:

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE!!!!

yeah like there was any doubt we would have bad reviews.

:o
We haven't yet, though, which is what I find amazing.

amazing? or the fact that they have done what they were told..not to write a full review yet... i would expect some bad ones.

but from what i hear..its all gravy.

I thought that was because they aren't allowed to post full reviews yet

Absolutely I was expect some bad ones. I would imagine a 90+% tomato rating though.

yeah, they've all been asked not to go into the story. but, all i'm concerned about is that the acting, characterization, and special effects are the shizzle... and it sounds like they are.
