The Wachowskis and J. Michael Straczynski developing 'Sense8'

What's so weird is that they made this announcement almost IMMEDIATELY after releasing season 2. Why not wait and see if viewership grows before giving it the ax? Netflix isn't like HBO or NBC where people tune in every week for a new episode. Maybe more people might have tuned in to watch the new season but by making this announcement, a lot of people are going to be like, "Eh, why bother?"

Idiots. But hey, at least we'll get more crap with Adam Sandler and Ashton Kutcher.

There were rumors before the season began that the show was getting canceled....I doubt it had anything to do with viewership but more with money.

Netflix responds to Sense8 renewal petitions: We can't make it work

“To our Sense8 family,” begins the letter, posted to the show’s Facebook page. “We’ve seen the petitions. We’ve read the messages. We know you want to #RenewSense8, and we wish we could #BringBackSense8 for you. The reason we’ve taken so long to get back to you is because we’ve thought long and hard here at Netflix to try to make it work but unfortunately we can’t. Thank you for watching and hope you’ll stay close with your cluster around the world. #SensatesForever.”

Do we think Netflix pitched a movie or truncated wrap up series to JMS and the Wachowskis sisters and they didn't want it?

I suppose it's possible.

Considering the backgrounds of both JMS and the Wachowskis, I wonder if a comic continuation is a remote possibility.

Netflix not willing to at least do a special to wrap up the show surprises me.

JMS said on twitter that the producers had, had no contact with netflix before or after the cancellation. They were as surprised about it as we were. They read it in the "Trades".

I'd hope so. Titan Comics are already doing Blacklist, Heroes, Orphan Black and Penny Dreadful series.

It was amazing to go back and read these posts from the beginning, before season 1 aired. How people were kinda "eh" about the pilot and how once episode 4 hit it had almost everyone hook, line, and sinker. I've been so upset the last several days. It was amazing to read the reactions everyone had to the Xmas special and when season 2 dropped...Kala and Wolfgang finally getting together was amazing if short lived. Hopefully someone can write a decent fan fiction or two, though I doubt it, maybe I'll write one.

Sawyer, have you ransomed the Stranger Things kids yet?

2 hour finale next year!

I would've gladly taken another five seasons of this, but at least we're getting closure. Couldn't have handled that cliffhanger being it for the show.

****ing hell.... that is some good news. Sad it's only a 2 hour episode, but at least we're going to get some closure on the Cluster's story.

Glad this is happening, it would of sucked ending on that cliffhanger.

I'm feeling a mix of emotions about this, on one hand I'm glad we're getting a little more Sense8 on the other I'm pissed that people complain about lack of originality and diversity in Hollywood and when their given both they turn their backs on it yet they'll gladly flock to yet another @#%#@! Transformers movie. It also sucks that Sense8 got little to no recognition from the media or any of the countless award shows out there. In my dreams this would be a big media story, people would check this great show out and it would get the audience it deserves and miraculously be saved but between the "It's to slow and boring" crowed and the "It's to gay" "gay agenda" crowed I sadly know it won't happen.

the way this show ended, it truly was a clusterf**k in it being cancelled... at least NOW, there's hope of closure for the cluster...

Best news I've heard all day. Even though we likely won't get another full season, at least they can wrap up a few things after THAT cliffhanger. So glad this is happening. I also hope we get to see
Nomi and Amanita's wedding.

Seriously, damn near every episode of this show puts me through an emotional wringer in the best way and it would be tragic if it was completely done. I love ALL of the main characters... not just the sensates, but their supporting cast members as well. This show is truly something special. And Whispers might be the best villain on TV now; I f***ing HATE that guy. So many shows have great characters and a so-so premise, or a brilliant premise and poor character development. This one hits all the right notes, at least for me.

I was a little worried that this show would lose some luster when Capheus was recast, but new actor Toby Onwumere really made the role his own. Season 2 was just as great as Season 1, and perhaps even better in some ways, so I'm stoked to find out that we have more Sense8 on the way.

Good enough. Plus a completed series has a better chance of retaining a following.

Now I can get a few of my friends to watch it without needing to warn them of the head-exploding cliffhanger. Good times.

:jd: !

Wish they had more time, honestly they really stretched and paced season 2 way to thin. They obviously anticipated having another season. I know it's part of the appeal and style/language for the show, but way to many musical montages, and not enough driving the plot forward.
I'm so glad they'll at least get to close out the story.

The biggest question now is whether the Wachowskis use this movie to truly end the series or if they'll leave it open-ended in hopes that it can continue. Lana's statement alludes that it could be the latter, but that's a risk that could annoy some fans if it doesn't end up coming back for another 2 hour special or whatever. Although I suppose that could be okay as long as it's not a huge cliffhanger like the way they ended season 2.

Things I hope they can tie up:

- Sun getting revenge on her a**hole brother. That cop has to know it was him that shot him.
- Nomi and Amanita's wedding. Seriously, I need to cry my eyes out while watching this. And maybe we'll even get a Lito/Hernando proposal scene too.
- Wolfgang gaining freedom from BPO, as well as his battle with that other sexy sensate.
- Kala's entire situation.
- Capheus' struggle to win the election.
- Whispers getting his f***ing head chopped off and thrown into a sewer.

Can they pull it all off in two hours?

To that, I would add Will coming back to Chicago and returning to the force. Riley will come with him, obviously.

I imagine they'll work on paying those dividends, but things will still be open for other stories at the end, just because some things would take way too long to tie up anyway. Firefly/Serenity and Jericho and others ended similarly. It's clear they had lots of plans for exploring other sensate groups in the 3 seasons they planned; hard to imagine wrapping all that up in 2 hours without taking the focus of the main 8 that we want to see.

Maybe a graphic novel series for the rest. It won't be quite the same, but they can maintain some of the show's signature visual style.

I suspect they'll tie up some of the more important plot points... but I also think they'll leave a few things open ended.... wouldn't shock me if we get a montage showing different things (Nomi & Aminita's wedding, Will going back to Chicago, etc).

This story is finished, but the stories of life continues kinda thing

The show seemed dead until about a week ago. I would strongly suggest they steer away from any notion that there could somehow be more. I don't care if certain things need to be glossed over, I want closure. Because if they do the whole "We left certain things up in the air, because maaaaaaybe, you never know!" thing, it's only gonna piss me off more when "maybe" turns into "no".

Oh yeah, Will returning to Chicago and Riley going with him would be good. Forgot about that.
