The Wachowskis' Ninja Assassin

awesome...

they're clearly advertising it now as a movie for just guys, to contrast this New Moon week. lol

Meeting up with my friends for a free screening tonight! Can't wait!

tell us how it is..

on an entertainment/fun scale from 1 to 10 lol

Have fun KenK! Let us know about the crowd reaction well!

yeah pretty much the male counter-part to New Moon.. lol

And that's to be expected. "High brow" critics would never give a film like this a good review.

I could give 2 ****s about professional critics, I want to hear from fan sites, not people with a stick in their keyster.

I agree, I mean. Those critics will look at it from their point of view, not the point of view of the people who the film is targeted towards. That's why I rarely pay attention to critics anymore.

That is why I'll take a review for Ninja Assassin from Arrow at Joblo.com at a higher degree of confidence than a review from a stuck up critic like Michael Moore. Arrow knows what and who this film is supposed to appeal to.

"Michael Moore"?

In any event, here's the thing about the major critics anyway; given their status as major critics, there does have to be some standard for them to follow when reviewing films in general. Having seen the film, I can imagine they'll take issue with things like the acting (which isn't all that great from anyone involved), and the story (there really isn't much of one). Some critics are gonna hate that all the blood splatter is computer-generated.

Did I enjoy the film? Hell Yeah! If this movie really took itself seriously, they'd have named it something else other than "Ninja Assassin". But they don't. It's just a whole heap of ninjas for the sake of having a whole heap of ninjas!! The movie could have been called "Ninjas. . . . .They're F***in' Awesome", and I'd just be more excited than I already was. The action was very well staged, and just brutal as hell. There's one sequence I'd go as far as to call "The Jungle Gym of Death"! It's like the Wachowskis were playing Shinobi or Ninja Gaiden, looked at each other and smiled, then called Joel Silver to say, "Have we got a movie for you!" :woot:

I have to ask. Why do the Wachowskis get credit for the creation of this? They neither wrote nor directed it. Is there something I'm missing?

The Wachowskis produced it. Ninja Assassin was inspired by the ninja scenes in Speed Racer. They along with James McTeigue were impressed with Rain and wanted to do a project featuring him as the star.

Good to hear it was fun, all of the tv spots I keep seeing are driving me nuts waiting for it.

:(

The best this film can hope for is #2 when it's released next week because we all know what will likely be number one next week.

its also competing against a dozen other pg13 films... #2 would be a miracle lol

Yeah it's going up against Old Dogs. There's also New Moon and Christmas Carol. I really don't think Thanksgiving weekend was a good time to release this kind of movie. Especially if they really wanted to do well. I fear this may be 2009's Grindhouse.
