The Wachowskis' Ninja Assassin

The fighting in TDK was crap too. He didn't move like the worlds greatest martial artist. And there was people falling over before getting hit.

yeah looked like godzilla on a rampage spree against those asians

:funny: Yea, I mean, he was so slow. I wanted to see some proper fast, lighting quick strikes and that.

I think this film is guaranteed to fill my martial arts needs for a good while.

If you guys expect to see Nolan's Batman doing spinning roundhouses and scissor kicks, you're out of luck.

Most people knew that after the first movie.

you mean Begins.. TDK had no ninjas... lol

but yeah the martial arts genre is dieing... especially with this new age realistic fighting like bourne and batman.

Martial arts genre always come in and out like a cycle. Eventually, there will be a new actor like Bruce Lee or Jet Li would've resurrect this genre in a big way. Ninja Assassin will not get it done, but it's still a nice thing to see some kung-fu action on the big screen (even though ninjas aren't supposed to be martial artists, despite common misconception).

And thank god for that. I wanna see some proper martial arts, not the lame crap in TDK.

At least the fighting style is really deadly compared to repetitive Hollywood fighting choreography, though the way it was shot and edited was really bad.

Na I didn't expect that, I just expect more than elbow, punch, elbow, punch, elbow, punch. Batman fought like a chump in those movies.

But I'd say it was less to do with the actual style and more to do with the shoddy editing and choreography. I mean people falling over before getting hit? In a big budget Batman film? Unacceptable. Reminded me of Power Rangers.

I saw it last night (and reviewed it here: Under Review: ‘Ninja Assassin’). My honest feeling is that you will like it if you wanted to like it before you even saw it and you won't like it if you didn't want to.

Um, that statement is pretty inclusive to any film. Eh, if someone watches this then complains about the glorification of violence, over the top action, and lack of storyline, they need a spinning kick to the head to knock some common sense into them. It's called Ninja Assassin, not Requiem for the Tiger Lily.

Most people walk into a movie hoping to like it and they either do or they don't -- a simple fact. This is a movie that likely won't change people's minds either way. How you feel about it after seeing it is most likely going to be the same as how you fet about it before seeing it. Most movies are not that way.

I like what both of you said in your reviews, very up front and honest, without bashing the film or people who would enjoy this type of thing. I don't have any delusions about what I expect from it, I just know what I like. When I'm familiar with the Ninja film's from back in the 80's, that is what I expect from this film to follow. And when Sho himself is it it, I know this isn't going to be Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. This is something that won't put me to sleep.

That was um pretty damn awesome and bloody.

The last part might have gone into the "lol cheese" zone but I love it all so far. :hehe:

Good christ that trailer was too awesome. I might just see this now.

Still watching this movie because I've been waiting so long but this certain review among others are disheartening for something I really wanted this movie to excel in.

"McTeigue can barely shoot straight, and the editing is so hack-y, you have to take the stunts and fight choreography on faith."

The choreography as we all saw in the behind the scene videos was excellent it would be a shame if the shaky cam along with poor editing ruined that.
