i think because officially, it still doesn't have a solid release date, though it WILL be coming out this year.

But I think WB missed the boat because this would've been the perfect place to put in a trailer.

That's odd considering Watchmen is R rated like Ninja Assassin and both with fanboy favourite filmmakers behind the wheel.

Just like they did with 300
You don't need to have an red band trailer to promote it. Just have cool action sequences without the bloody gore.
Heck it's even possible to edit sequences out.

If you've watched Watchmen , you'll see that the Vietnam sequence of Dr Manhatten killing the vietcong is much more bloodier. In the trailer they were just vaporised but in the movie everything is added : blood , guts etc.

btw I just hope WB won't promote this movie like they did with the Hulk which is waiting till the last moment.
I'm sure that they were trying to find a good release date for Ninja Assasin but they need to start promoting it asap.

Terminator Salvation seems to me to be the next candidate for the trailer.

My bet is they are aiming for a date similar to Wanted in the hopes of being another big R rated summer blockbuster.

maybe Rain didn't approve of the body double used in some of the shots and is spending hours in the editing room telling how the director and editor should edit the film thus no release of any footage

Historicall what R rated action movies have done well released at the end of November? Isn't 2012 coming out around the same time? That's a bad film to release next to, PG-13, big name director, same studio (I.E. marketing department as Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace), mostly recognisable cast.

Should've released in August, would've atracted the Wanted crowds.

EDIT: Matrix Revolutions made $425 million WW as a November release, but that was the conclusion of a hugely popular trilogy.

I agree with some point of you dude_love.
I checked IMDb and the US release date of 2012 is nov 13th. Often PG-13 movies end up making more money then R rated flicks.

However Wanted also proved to be the perfect counter programming for other Pg-13 flicks in the summer of 2008. ANd i think Ninja Assasin could also be just that.
According to several news reports this pic is pretty much done . If WB were smart they would start promoting this flick now to create an interest amongst the viewers. So by the time the movie comes out , there will be an audience. And who knows , maybe WB is planning an iMAX release. Nov gives them plenty of time to covert the movie in the IMAX format.
