The Wachowskis' Ninja Assassin

Ninja Assassin box-office hit is anticipated, since Ninja Assassin which has been considered to be an epoch of the action movie after it was released, is enjoying great popularity among the audience, and the outstanding force of Rain's acting is continuing to draw critical acclaim.

Also, Ninja Assassin, in which Korean superstar Rain plays his first Hollywood leading role, succeeded in garnering a half of the production cost during its first week, signaling a high prospect for the movie.

According to the data released by the box office Mojo on Nov. 30, Ninja Assassin has taken in total ticket sales of $13.135 million in 2,503 theaters during the 3-day period from Novr27 to Nov29, to record a total of $ 21.0 million and rank No.6 on movie charts.

This is an equivalent to a half of its production costs of $ 40.0 million already recovered within its first of week of release. As the total excludes the sales from overseas, however, the movie may have earned by far more than this tally, and, as it continues to score well and earns from other sales including DVDs and cable network rights, it is expected to successfully win more than the production cost.

The success of Ninja Assassin is certainly noteworthy in several aspects. The movie is R-rated and is being screened in 2,503 theaters. Meanwhile, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon", which tops the list, is PG-13 and is being screened in 4,024 theaters, and "The Blind Side", also PG-13, screened in 3,140.

The success of this R-rated movie during the U.S. Thanksgiving ‘family-oriented’ holiday is taking some people in the industry by surprise and the local news reports say Warner Bros is encouraged by the news.

??? WTF???

Well, uh, yay? I wouldn't it consider it that successful, but I guess so?

That was a s**tty and strange boxoffice article. Because of the movie's budget it didn't exactly flop but that article was talking as if the movie were bringing in New Moon numbers or something.

Loved the movie. I cant wait till Ninja Scroll comes out.

Well, the movie doesn't have any stars behind it and noone I've talked to about it new about the Wachowski's involvement. Basically everyone's just seeing it for the ninja factor. I wouldn't really call this a flop

Who's calling it a flop? The movie's numbers are just mediocre, nothing more and noting less.

Hell, 2012's domestic numbers aren't looking too hot, it's also having a mediocre run in the U.S. But it should somewhat make up for it with it's mega huge overseas numbers.

Domestically I think that the big stories over the hollidays are going to be New Moon, The Blind Side and Sherlock Holmes possibly. Avatar is still a wild card and an oscar movie will probably do over 100mil.

If a movie doesn't make a googleplex dollars in its first thirty seconds of release there will be people around to call it a flop.

Wachowskis need to hang it up... I mean flop after flop after flop. How many more will it take before WB pulls the plug on these guys?
Wasnt Speed Racer the only flop? they didnt do this movie.

and it will make a profit.

Disappointingly true. Hell, if it's not #1 AND clears $80 million in it's first couple days of release, it's considered a flop to some people.

Yep. I've paid for too much crap. I will never pay for another soundtrack again. They stole money from me. 15 bucks for 40 minutes is ****** as hell.

Which is the same amount as any recording artist's cd.

Dont care. They make enough money. I'll steal it all! Muahahaha..ahahaha AHAHAHAH!

Falling back on the "they make enough money" cop-out to justify your theft.

Good job.

Who said i'm justifying it? I steal. I dont care. I use them for filmmaking, weather its to write, or to throw it in. Totally NOT worth the money for my use.

You care too much about what other people do.

Or maybe I'm just an honest citizen who gets a little miffed at people who scoff and knowingly break the law.

LOL filmmaker.

What? I make movies? Short movies....

And so what? I'm so not in any way an honest citizen. No one is. Even if you'd like to be.
